Corporal Dipprasad Pun, 31, said he thought he was going to die and so had nothing to lose in taking on the attackers who overran his checkpoint."

2That's one bad hombre. I'm so happy he survived. Man is he going to have stories to tell his grandkids by the campfire. "Son, let me tell you 'bout the time I straight up bitch slapped about 30 Haji's intent on killing grandpa"

3The capper for me was "At one point, unable to shoot, he used his machine gun tripod to knock down a militant who was climbing the walls of the compound."

4Those Gurka's are bad ass. I'm glad they are on our side. When we sold our house in london prior to moving back to the states it was to a retired gurka soldier. Some of the neighbours were a bit weary (being a working class area with a heavy mulim population) but as soon as we mentioned he was gurka there was a giant cheer.

5400+ rounds, 17 grenades, 1 mine and a tripod. How does one say bad ass in Nepalese?
Oddly enough it's only the SECOND highest award given. I think you have to be a honky to get the highest.

If I hear "crony" capitalism one more time I'm going to be ill. Capitalism is capitalism, dog eats dog and one dog ends up on top, and he defends that place with all the power he's accumulated.

8Fifteen minutes. Must have felt like years.Surrounded, the enemy opened fired from all sides and for 15 minutes Pun remained under continuous attack, including from rocket-propelled grenades and AK47 guns.

9This is awesome.
In my mind it played out like a scene from The Matrix.

12I am glad I am not the only one who thinks had this guy been a native Brit he would have gotten the VC. That and I also heard the Brits shafted Gurkhas in terms of military benefits for a very long time.
