I can see by your mention of Sonny's and Bono's, you have never tried Park BBQ in S.E. FL.
No, I haven't. And the fact is that there are so many large and small BBQ places that are fantastic, and we never run into them. Some ten years ago I was on business traveling around FL and I stopped in some small little town, SW of lake Okeechobee. I think it was a mama/papa shop and their BBQ was outstanding (and not just because I was hungry, you know...).

Just had me a NC style (Vinegar base) with slaw and hot sauce at the Blackbeard festival. That's right, I live within walking distance of where they stuck Blackbeards head on stick. :D

Wonder if he ever had any bbq disputes. I saw on the news that they brought up the Queen Anne's Revenge anchor the other day.

I did hear about the anchor through friend, not media, so fairly uninformed. From what I understand he wasn't actually that bad of a guy and fairly democratic/anti corporate.

Maybe rum disputes.

Here is my concoction.
11/2 cup catchup
3/4 cup dark brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
2 tablespoons red cider vinegar
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4th cup of (you guessed it) Guinness
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
mix and stir over low heat till it thickens be careful not to burn
Very carefully drink at least 6 pints of Guinness and do not waist the remainder of the one you used in recipe

Enjoy
