Oh, this is the same thing as during the apartheid in South Africa - some were suggesting that killing all the blacks will bring end to racism and apartheid.

The sad thing is, given the rate of tropical deforestation (forest lost to climate change/fire, and replaced with farms and biofuel plantations in places like Brazil and Indonesia), we're about to find out just how devastatingly wrong his ideas are.
