Re: DNA Evidence Frees Black Man Convicted Of Bear Attack

I've given thousands of dollars to the Innocence Project. I even got a signed thank-you from Barry Scheck.

I don't see how anybody can be against this kind of work, but prosecutors and D.A.'s nationwide are furious at having some outsiders swoop in and mess up their win/loss records.

The problem is so bad that Governor Ryan of IL commuted ALL 167 of the death sentences to life in prison before he left office in 2003.

And then Governor Quinn did it again in 2011 when he signed the bill repealing the IL death penalty.

And there is the case of Cameron Todd Willingham convicted and executed in 2004 based on junk science. District attorneys' and courts do not like to admit they ever make mistakes, so they keep throwing road blocks in the way of the truth and Texas has done plenty of it in the Willingham case. http://www.innocenceproject.org/Content ... _Texas.php
