I wonder if the crew of the Enola Gay kept their heads down after they dropped their bombs. Certainly not the exact same situations but anyone know how that unfolded? My googling fingers are strained.

As I recall (from reading, not being there), the crew's identity was never a secret. Some of them have spoken about the mission, mostly to the effect that they felt ending the war had saved more lives than were los tin the bombings. AFAIK, they avoided celebrity and eventually retired quietly.

Dr. Suess trivia: "Horton Hears a Who!" was apparently inspired by the author's visit to Japan shortly after the war.
