John McCain to Bush apologists: Stop lying about Bin Laden and torture

This is getting really good. As noted below, John McCain in an Op ed this morning skewered the claim that the killing of Bin Laden vindicates torture. But just now, on the Senate floor, he uncorked a new broadside that is quite remarkable, taking direct aim at Bush apologists who are reviving this debate in order to claim Bin Laden’s death as part of the Bush legacy.

He has never flip flopped on the torture issue but if he was courting the gop for a presidential run he would word it to give the credit to bush. The clown is terribly self absorbed with a desperate need for attention.

Why don't you stop for a moment and first introduce yourself as new one to the forum?

Oh yes McCain did flip-flop on the torture issue.

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/17/us/po ... rture.html

In February 2008, right in the middle of the presidential primary season, he felt he had to appease the GOP crazies by voting against a bill to limit the CIA's use of waterboarding and other torture techniques.

The guy had built his entire political personna out of the supposedly core principles that arose from his POW experience, and he sold them all out in one stroke.

Well, getting all the steps right can be a bit of a project.

Go to the general discussion board, hit new topic, put in Hello y'all! in the subject box, then say hi in the message body. Then click submit.

Usually the most interesting info is where you live and how you got here. Most of us like this forum because it matches our beliefs/ lifestyle/ personality better than some other places.

I put Liberal gun views towards the new Bump Stock and the L Gun club Forum was the 3ed down. So I hit it.

P.S. I like John's wife and daughter, kind of like me with my dad, he says something I did opposite. So a guy I know told me at the club to buy a M-16 and put a bump stock and put it in my truck and I would be safe. Then he said unless I get stopped. So here I am on the net looking stuff up and found your site. Some times I am a Dem when I have to be, most the time an independent when I want to be, buy only a republican when I have to be. OK. I once dated a girl so that would make me liberal right.

Man is that ever the truth. I tell you, to my way of thinking, McCain was the scariest candidate I've EVER seen because of this issue alone. I honestly think the guy is a megalomaniac and not quite all the way there. In many ways Obama has been a big disappointment, but at the end of the day, the "Football" is follwing a sane man.

The full question, just so it can be verified in context that he meant it.

Foxgirl is 1/2 right. IMO he is a great man or at least a exceptional man, but I think his politics suck and I would not want him for or any other republican for POTUS.

He flip flopped on torture. But on the other hand, don't ever forget of those 534 other Representatives or Senators, he is the one who's actually been there. I cut him a lot of slack on that basis, and I'm glad now that he isn't kissing Republican ass to get the nomination he stood up on this issue.

He most certainly did.

McCain lost my respect in his last presidential run. He went from Maverick to yes man beholden to his corporate handlers.

I actually did some serious research into his past including his military history and found him far from exceptional.

Rolling Stone did an interesting piece on him during the 2008 campaign. It was not too flattering and showed him to be less a maverick than a self serving politician, who rode his father's and grandfather's reputations to a career and out of various forms of trouble throughout his life.

There is some rather compelling evidence that his time in the "hilton" was a little different than widely believed.

Just ask any Arizona Farmer, small business owner, real estate agent or Arizona cop who is NOT in the above-the-law Maricopa County Sheriff's department about his "rock-solid" reputation about not flip-flopping.

He's pretty much a flop. I mean, the guy can't even remember how many homes he owns!

Just sayin' as someone who had to put up with him....
