So last night as I was going to bed I noticed what looked like a strobe light going outside my house. The light was steady, and extremely bright, to the point that I had to get up and investigate. There was a bit of a storm going, so at first I didn't think much of it, but then when I thought about it for an instant, there had to be multiple flashes every second for about 45min. Anyway, I took some video on my phone to document. The phone apparently doesn't get low level flashes very well, but you can still see a LOT of it. Enjoy.
That's a lot of lightning. Was the thunder to with the lightning?

Yes there was, but the thunder did not match the amount of lightning at all.

Amir, we had that same light show last night in Jax. There was some distant and incoherent thunder until about ten after midnight. Deep-sounding thunderous rumble very close to us lasted for a good 20 seconds, if not even longer. You know, you kinda expecting it to stop after while but the darn thing just kept rolling and rolling and the house vibrated and glasses and plates in the kitchen cupboard were resonating. I've bee in Florida 14 years and I've seen all kinds of light-shows and heard some weird thunders, went through two hurricanes but never heard a thunder that lasted so long.
And now somebody among us should ask: "Are these the signs? 05/21/2011 is less than a week away!"

Yeah we had that type of thunder too, but it was probably around the same time as you if not earlier. This video was taken around 4:30am. The light was steady enough that I was easily able to navigate around the dark house by lightning illumination alone.

4:30am... that time, I was fast asleep! I have a big sleeping (lack of it) problem. Often I can't fall a sleep and then I catch few hours at dawn, just before I have to get up for work or if I fall a sleep after few hours I'll wake up and then spend the rest of the night awake. The only time I seam to be sleeping like a baby is when it's thunder. Just like, during the war, I was sleeping the best during artillery shelling. Shells are exploding everywhere, earth is shaking, buildings are collapsing or burning and I sleep like none of that matters to me. I guess it was because the fact that during the shelling there's no way enemy will get to us. It's totally different thing once the shelling stops. I think I brought that shit with me into civilian life.

I also feel compelled to add that when you first started talking, all I could think of was this guy:

Yeah, I was aware of the potential, and I was trying specifically NOT to come off that way. ...I hope I managed. Also, it was completely silent during the recording-the fridge and the AC were both off. I'm guessing that the sound on the vid that seems like a chopper or something was just some random acoustical effect of the phones mic.

Yea pretty much the same in Michigan. Happens on hot, hot nights lots of light and very little sound.
