Got a job today.

It's really weird, but in the past two weeks, my best friend, his wife (recently laid off) & my wife all got new jobs. Today I got one. Every day I hear some conflicting jobs report on the news, so I have no idea what to believe. All I know is that I am very grateful. Anyhow, I am now a Sales Rep for an auto parts wholesaler, and get to tool around Denver in a company ride, with a company laptop, cell phone & credit card.
But what I really want to say is
too bad all the best threads are locked!

WOO HOO! Nice score!
They just cut my hours at work from 40/week to 15/week due to summer being slow

I've been hunting for a holdover job until our student grant checks come in during August but not so much luck. The fact that job reports are conflicting is evident in my field: Entertainment Production. They say nationally jobs are up, but in my field they are impossible to find, which is why I'm going back to school to try to diversify as much as possible because at 32, I really don't want to throw away previous education and 14 years as a stage manager on my resume. Just gotta hold out for 3 months.... then the grant checks will be in and school can begin...

I have hired like 6 people in the last 6 months, I think the department is scheduled to grow by 10%.
There are jobs. Just not a lot of them, and not in all industries. Unemployment is at what 9% even as of last report?

Good to hear!
Should we PM the parts we need or how will that work?

Never thought about that. I even have friends in the Denver area that can pick them up... no shipping! Do you do motorcycles as well?

How about starting your own business "staging" houses for sale? My dad's trying to sell his house and he's paying a small fortune to stage it.

Thanks guys.
This company only carries radiators, fan assemblies, fuel tanks, heater cores and A/C parts. Sadly, no parts for motorcycles. I like the home staging suggestion for Neo. You can pick up some design/architecture magazines for ideas, and there's certainly no shortage of empty homes out there.

Congrats! You should come here to Florida. Here's where they need A/C, not in Denver.

Man, you guys have
no idea! It regularly hits 95+ here. AC is definitely a requirement in FL. I've been to Orlando in June. I'll never do that again.

Actually, I've spent a little time in the Denver area (Aurora) when I had family there. I'd visit twice a year, once around christmas and once in the summer. I was just try'n to be funny. What stuck me odd was how warm it was in winter.

Yeah, I knew it was all tongue in cheek.
It's true, January of '10 had more 70 degree days than 40 degree days. Even saw 80 once. But don't tell anyone, it's hard enough to find a parking space here.
