How true this statement is. Few Americans, regardless of where they fall in the political spectrum, are willing to sacrifice comfort for their beliefs. Still though, if global warming keeps it up and we see a five foot rise in sea level, the ensuing migration of people from the coast would make things interesting.
There's even a ready-made solution for that: America's interior, especially the midwest, abandoned its great cities (and even the mediocre ones like Dayton or Fort Wayne) 40 years ago. They bolted so fast, they even left the housing stock intact. Sure, a lot of it has been run ragged by hobos and junkies and stray dogs, but a few passes of the mop and the paint roller, and you'll find it's still hooked up to the sewer, water and electrical grids.

The sea level rising is NOT what anyone needs to worry about. It's simply not going to happen to the point that we'd be much affected.

Reason: by the time that happens the thermohaline cycle will have shut down and earth will see the next ice age.

The day corporations are given power to be elected to state positions is the day that I start a new sport: CEO hunting, and I will be as ruthless and uncaring as they themselves are. So you need not worry about this for they will be dead before they can do anything.

Historically our nation swings from left to right and back again (rinse and repeat).
Basically the repugnicans, backed by corporate interests, create a falsely inflated economy and all the greedy morons come running to their banner (and we have no shortage of greedy morons in this country), then when it all falls apart they come running back to the left to save them.
Right now were on the down side of the right wing stupidity, it'll all balance out and we'll have a good maybe twenty years of things running relatively well before the corporate robber barons figure out a way to outmaneuver all the checks and balances again.

Do it as a subcontracted employee of your own SuperPAC, so you can take anonymous donations of infinite amounts like Stephen Colbert.

And don't forget your high school reunions.

The time scale won't allow us to see the longterm results but the amount of land mass will be greatly reduced before the convection current stops and causes another ice age. There are plenty of ancient civilizations already underwater due to normal warming.

To the OP
Step One: Go Bankrupt, or at least start the process.
"US government hits debt ceiling, lighting 11-week fuse"
"In hitting the $14.3 trillion debt ceiling - the limit on how much the government can borrow - the Obama administration on Monday began temporarily halting payments to the retirement and federal pension accounts of federal workers and started borrowing from those funds, to be restored later."
