There's even a ready-made solution for that: America's interior, especially the midwest, abandoned its great cities (and even the mediocre ones like Dayton or Fort Wayne) 40 years ago. They bolted so fast, they even left the housing stock intact. Sure, a lot of it has been run ragged by hobos and junkies and stray dogs, but a few passes of the mop and the paint roller, and you'll find it's still hooked up to the sewer, water and electrical grids.ABNinfantryman wrote:How true this statement is. Few Americans, regardless of where they fall in the political spectrum, are willing to sacrifice comfort for their beliefs. Still though, if global warming keeps it up and we see a five foot rise in sea level, the ensuing migration of people from the coast would make things interesting.FriqueNationale wrote:What would a modern Civil War look like? A bunch of apathetic, obese couch potatoes blasting away at each other for control of the last standing Hardee's? Color me unconvinced. The only danger of civil war in the near future is if Congress and the Supreme Court remove all restrictions on corporations assuming state power and Coke declares Jihad against Pepsi.
