Trump's inauguration is Monday, January 20, 2025.

We didn't vote for him, but he'll be the next US president on Monday the 20th. We can bitch and moan about Trump and his policies as much as we bitch and moan about Newsom, Abbott and other politicians of both political parties. That's the American way.
Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg will attend President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration Monday, according to an official involved with planning the event. They will have a prominent spot at the ceremony, seated together on the platform with other notable guests, including Trump’s Cabinet nominees and elected officials. Musk said on X that he was “honored” to have such a prominent spot at the inauguration. The three tech titans have all tried to earn favor with Trump in the past year, led by Musk’s donating more than a quarter-billion dollars in campaign funds to help elect Trump. Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX — and the co-lead of a new Trump administration advisory body called the Department of Government Efficiency — has frequently been at Trump’s side since he endorsed him for president in July.

Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, this month reshuffled his lobbying staff and his content moderation policies to align with the incoming Republican administration. Meta also gave $1 million to the Trump inaugural fund. Zuckerberg is co-hosting a black-tie reception Monday with Republican megadonor Miriam Adelson to celebrate the inauguration, according to two people familiar with the event who were not authorized to speak publicly. Puck News first reported the event. Bezos, the founder of Amazon and its executive chair, decided last fall that The Washington Post, which he owns, would not endorse in the presidential race, overruling opinion staff members who wanted to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris. Amazon also contributed $1 million to Trump’s inaugural fund. The three men are among the wealthiest people in the world, with fortunes based on the tech boom of the past two decades.

Musk ranks No. 1, Bezos No. 2 and Zuckerberg No. 3, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. Their combined net worth: $885 billion as of Monday, according to Bloomberg. A representative for Meta declined to comment. Representatives for Musk and Bezos did not immediately respond to requests for comment. All three men have supported Democrats and Republicans over the years, according to federal records. They have a significant amount at stake in Trump's second term, not only because of potential tax and trade policy changes but also because of issues specific to their businesses. Meta faces a possible antitrust trial as soon as April over allegations from the Federal Trade Commission that it acted illegally to maintain a monopoly on personal social networks. Amazon is a major federal contractor through its cloud computing business, which was a source of conflict with Trump during his first term.

SpaceX is a major federal contractor through its rocket launches and internet service business, Starlink. Musk, Zuckerberg and Bezos are frequent rivals in the tech industry, competing for influence on subjects such as artificial intelligence, space exploration and media. Bezos is trying to compete with Musk’s dominance in rocket launches with his space company, Blue Origin, which on Monday called off its inaugural launch attempt. Zuckerberg and Musk are longtime rivals in AI research, and they are both pouring billions of dollars into new AI models. In 2022, Musk also started competing with Zuckerberg on social media when he bought X, which was then Twitter. Bezos and Zuckerberg compete through the dueling advertising and shopping businesses of Amazon and Meta.

It's funny to me that musk and zuck were Dem darlings only a few short years ago.
Yup, Musk and Zuckerberg were big Democratic donors and talked center-left in politics, though they hedged by also donating some to Republicans. Musk moved Space X and X out of California to Texas and leans center-right, he doesn't totally align with MAGA. While Meta (Facebook, Instagram, Threads, WhatsApp...) is still headquartered in Menlo Park, CA and Zuck seems to be placating Trump. If TikTok totally shudders on Sunday 1/19, then Facebook and X will be two beneficiaries.

Are you doing some snow dances down there in San Antone, Wino ?
To send our possible snowmageddon to DC that's expected next week. Possibility of repeat of 2021 Feb. with snow and power losses cause our dumbassed guv. still hasn't fixed ERCOT.

Wrap it and send it special delivery to arrive when Trump gives his inaugural address.

In the 21st century why do we still do presidential inaugurations outside in January when it's so cold?

A cold and snowy Inauguration day would just provide "proof" that there is no such thing as global warming, because it was cold one day.

Power officially changes hands at noon. I wonder if the "day 1 agenda" starts that afternoon, or will they wait for the first full business day, which is the 21st?

Like it or not, here it comes. We just have to wait it out for 2 or 4 years, or forever if the promise of never needing to vote again is kept.

Well, Texas and California will return flags to full staff on Monday for Inauguration Day. California will return them to half staff on Tuesday.

I'll watch some of it to see who shows. Michelle Obama didn't attend Jimmy Carter's funeral and she won't be attending the Inauguration with her husband. The artic blast starts Monday, we'll see if that keeps the geriatric politicians inside.

Wino gets his wish,
The temperature on Inauguration Day at noon — when the president-elect swears in — is expected to be in the low-20s, which is around 20 degrees below normal. It will likely be the coldest Inauguration Day since President Ronald Reagan’s second inauguration in 1985 when the noon temperature was 7 degrees. The noon temperature was 28 degrees for President Obama’s first inauguration in 2009. Winds of 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph are likely Monday. These winds will make conditions feel downright frigid. Wind chills are likely to hover around 10 degrees during the daylight hours Monday and could drop into the single digits after sundown. A mix of rain and snow is possible Sunday ahead of the main event, but Monday so far looks to be cold and windy, but dry.

There are heaters in the VIP area, but it's still going to be fucking cold. In 1985 for Reagan's 2nd Inauguration, the swearing in took place in the US Capitol Rotunda.

Only 96 people will fit in the US Capitol rotunda, the rest will be bussed to Capital One Arena to watch it on jumbo screens.

My TV's are going into network hibernation come 6 AM Jan.20 - I will be bingeing on whatever BritBox, Paramount+ or Prime has to offer (even if already binged) until I'm sure there are no more turd functions being televised. It seems appropriate that this week is my bi-annual check for lung cancer recurrence, knowing that whatever negative report I may get, turds returning as POTUS is the worse news I'll receive. May the gods have mercy on this nation.
