Gavin Newsom Reacts To Trump's Los Angeles Wildfires Attack

1
California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) swiftly dismissed Donald Trump’s efforts to “play politics” on Wednesday after the president-elect blamed him for the devastating Los Angeles wildfires that have killed at least five people.

“One can’t even respond to it,” said Newsom in an interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper as the two stood in front of a burning property.

“People are literally fleeing, people have lost their lives, kids lost their schools, families completely torn asunder, churches burned down. This guy wanted to politicize it. I have a lot of thoughts and I know what I want to say. I won’t.”

Newsom told Cooper that he was “proud” to stand next to Joe Biden earlier in the day as the president met with officials fighting the fires in Los Angeles.

“And he had the backs of every single person in this community. He didn’t play politics, didn’t try to divide any of us,” said Newsom, who declared a state of emergency in California on Tuesday.

Newsom’s comments arrive after the president-elect — in a rant on his Truth Social platform earlier in the day — blamed the governor for the deadly fires, which have impacted multiple neighborhoods and destroyed numerous structures in the Los Angeles area.

Trump would later take to social media to call for Newsom’s resignation, claiming that the fires were “all his fault.”

Trump, in the earlier post where he referred to Newsom as “Newscum,” claimed the governor refused to sign a “water restoration declaration” that could’ve helped prevent the fires “currently burning in a virtually apocalyptic way.”

Sacramento’s NBC affiliate KCRA found Trump’s claim to be “false” and Newsom’s office said such a document by that name is non-existent.

Elsewhere in the post, the president-elect blamed efforts to protect delta smelt (a species that’s considered endangered which he dubbed an “essentially worthless fish”) for the wildfires.

He also complained that there’s “no water for fire hydrants, not firefighting planes.” (Officials have blamed “tremendous demand” amid the wildfires for water storage tanks running dry. California’s forestry and fire protection department says it has the “largest civil aerial firefighting fleet in the world”).

Trump, while campaigning in California in October, vowed to take care of farmers’ “water situation” by threatening to withhold disaster aid in the state.

What can we say about TOS's delusional thinking. I most cases with a person of his age we would be looking at a case of senility and possibly placement in a center to take care of patients with dementia. He is showing signs of giving in his own delusional world and not the world of reality.

It's Trump and it's consistent. Newsom hasn't missed any media opportunities, it all helps when he runs for president in 2028. Not everyone who lost their home in the LA wildfires are millionaires, there are probably plenty of people living in their cars with their children. Shades of the Camp/Paradise fire in CDFs area. These are free media opportunities for all politicians.

Newsom could go out on the fire lines and talk to real people and firefighters, instead of just showing up for the choreographed press conferences. Same with all the politicians of both parties. People here can bitch because we live here, we don't have homes to escape to in other states. We're full time residents of California, we're entitled to bitch.

Newsom debunks lies, yet new lies erupt and fly around the world. The red hat Gish gallop is in full force. May their colonoscopies require rose canes.

And of course the traitorous Republicans are conditioning disaster aid for California, saying CA has to change its ways. Scum.

California is the largest state and Texas is the second largest. Two very different states, the Texas legislature has more Democrats than the California legislature has Republicans. Texas is more of a two party state than California.

Trump was invited to view the fire damage in LA, so far he's not gone but maybe after his Inauguration. Republican presidential candidates and Democratic presidential candidates collect millions of dollars in campaign donations from the LA basin.

There's a reason Californians reject Republicans. It started with Reagan as our governor. We saw his trickle up agenda for what it is, and it is still in full sway. The orange spirochete will try to make the 90% pay for tax cuts to the 0.1%. The slime mold has but two years to do damage, when most everyone will see it for what it is. Whether we succeed will depend upon how much damage we allow to take place during the ensuing two years. I really have begun to loathe the red hats. I believe such a move is justifiable due to their greedy ass kissing of the orange butt. They are so disgusting as to be unashamed. Everyone else is embarrassed.
