California Gunowners urged to lock up firearms as accidental shootings rise

1
FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- California Attorney General Rob Bonta is urging gun owners to properly lock up firearms following a rise in tragic accidental shootings.

--snrps--

The Attorney General says the increase in deaths tied to improper firearm storage is mostly due to parents or guardians of children not unloading their guns properly or failing to securely lock them when not in use.

Like with the ocean, responsible gun owners will never turn their backs on an unsecured gun.

Be careful out there.

While stupid is certainly the #1 factor in such cases, many people believe their circumstances afford the luxury of having guns always at the ready for when bad guys come a calling. Some people refuse to wear seatbelts in case they go into the water, however unlikely. Most homes supplied with natural gas or propane don't explode (It's pretty cool when the neighbors security cam records it, though) still it's good to have a "nose" for potential dangers. If the cool people in the movie and music and the fast cars going around in circles industry would give the message, it might get some traction. When government officials tell people what to do with their guns, failure is assured. My wife constantly tells me to not go about the house in my underwear in case friends drop by, but they never do anyway. Go figure.

I would say that the owner seeking to have a gun always at the ready should carry it in the house. I did an experiment to see what would happen. Turns out it's easy and comfy.

I didn't want to just pop off. I wanted to have data. Now I have it. Everyone can have it.

Rob Bonta is CA's AG with aspirations of becoming CA's governor. Democratic politicians in California tout their anti-gun credentials while whoring for votes. Kamala Harris hasn't said if she'll be running for CA governor in 2026 or instead run again for president in 2028, that could impact a Bonta run for the governor's mansion. Bonta wants to stay visible.
