My name is Garth and my wife’s is Sara and we moved here to Ohio in 2018 from Chicago. I’m originally from the area, but Sara grew up in Denver, CO.

I grew up hunting and fishing, probably like many of you. When we moved to Chicago, that became much more fishing than hunting, not because of the politics, but more from proximity. We’re both outdoorspeople and, when our daughter was born, we thought it would be a good idea to get some property and be around family so she could grow up that way, too. That’s how we landed here.

We’ve been modernizing our gun collection as of late. To give you an idea, I was still hunting upland game with my 1954 Winchester Model 12 and deer hunting in PA with my 1905 Springfield 1903. If it ain’t broke, as they say… But at a certain point, if you don’t break it, it’s going to break you, so time to modernize!

I’ve volunteered quite a bit for the Democratic Party and am always active, especially during election season. Sara was in the The Peace Corps on Boliva and has travelled all over the world helping people get back on their feet. We have a side-project called ‘Pie as Resistance’ that we spend time on every week. It’s one of our ways of giving back. You can check that out at http://pieasresistance.org.

It would be an honor to have a Peace Corp volunteer’s perspective on things here. I’ve traveled Bolivia and surrounding areas but didn’t do work there to help like your wife, Sara.

Couple of nice guns there. I have a Springfield 1903A3 that I built completely from new old stock (NOS). The original barrel is unfired. I just need the headspace done on it.
