When the officers tried to place the man under arrest, a struggle ensued, at which point a machine gun fell out of the man’s backpack, police say.
The man, identified as Abraham Sosa, was charged with criminal possession of a machine gun, assaulting police officers, and resisting arrest, among other charges.
Another one of the original charges was for a defaced serial number.
Mayren was charged with aggravated harassment, obstruction of governmental administration, and criminal mischief, among other charges.
In later stories, the media has changed its mind on the "machine gun" bit and does not mention that charge or the charge pertaining to the defaced serial number.

Both suspects are out of the clink. Sosa posted the $25K bond.

Sosa is due in court on 12/9.

Yup the firearms ignorant left wing media calls it a machine gun and the more firearms knowledgeable right wing media call it an AR-15. Fox News called it a loaded Palmetto State Armory PA-15. The NY Post reported
A Big Apple migrant armed with a loaded AR-15 assault rifle and his Mexican cartel pal are both back on the streets — despite allegedly ganging up on NYPD cops at a Bronx subway station.

Abraham Sosa, 20, a migrant living above a Bronx day care center, was hit with assault, gun possession, resisting arrest and trespassing charges after being nabbed urinating in a subway tunnel on Nov. 5 — while lugging the assault weapon in his backpack, according to sources and records. His pal, 21-year-old Christopher Mayren, allegedly jumped into the fray when Sosa got into a scuffle with New York’s Finest, leaving two cops injured, according to a criminal complaint.

And someplace between those stories is the truth as far as we know.
