Before the meal -the tools!

1
Since we have a cooking thread for the meals we enjoy, I thought perhaps we could share some of the tools we use to get those results. I’ll start with my newest acquisition, a digital thermometer. It’s a ThermoPro TempSpike XR. It comes with two sensor spikes. You can do two different meats and set the internal temp each. It also follows the ambient temp within the oven. I haven’t tried it yet, it came today. The reason I got this was to allow me to know the temperature without having to open the oven door.

I've been using various ThermoWorks gadgets and have been looking at this one https://www.thermoworks.com/smoke-x/ and would probably go with 4/Channel unit. They just came out with a wireless/WiFi/Bluetooth, so I may wait until it's proven and prices drop https://www.thermoworks.com/smoke-x/ .
I have their infra Temp gun, super large and loud alarms, and temp thermometers for ambient air and monitoring my wine cooler and gun safe. Plus their Instant Read ThermoPin and and older unit that wasn't instant, but quick. And temp monitor for refrigerator and freezer compartments. I love gadgits!!

I was looking at reviews of temp guns recently. Probably will be a purchase sometime in the future. The Thermoworks Hi-Temp Industrial IR with circle laser seemed to get the highest review marks for accuracy and functions. It’s going to be a tool I’ll be keeping a eye on. Which model do you have Wino?

I've got the IR-GUN-S. If I had a do over I'd get the IRK-2 Meter & Probe Kit.
I do a lot of fried food and Cast Iron cooking and the Gun-S has been adequate for surface temps re pan cakes/grill cheese/Reuben's and deep or pan frying.

ThermoWorks makes good products. I’ve had one of their other thermometers for awhile. It’s served me well, but it had limits.

Very accurate and fast, but I wanted to have information about the actual oven temperature. Hence the need for an upgrade.

There are multiple mail-in places as well. These guys did a good job when I tried them. I like resharp because its local, but Knifeflight also offers loaners, which look interesting. I didn't go that option though.

Fabulous! “Range” report! LoL.
Will do. Gotta finish repairs of my old MasterBuilt M7P Bullet grill/smoker/broiler/fishfryer/misc. that I can no longer get parts for. Burned out bottom ring and MB no longer supplies. Did get new firepan and have ordered a 13" OD x 8" center hole x 1/4" thick carbon steel fake bottom from one of my principles (a freebie, I hope) and get new burner - then will be good to go. Have had this thing for about 20+ years and it's magic on steaks (according to my SIL). In the interim, I'm having to use my Lodge Sportsman (basically a Hibachi) with no lid cover for smoking. I was gonna throw away and my SIL went apoplectic and convinced me to repair. LOL

Works OK enough.
That’s similar concept to mine. I didn’t want one that needed a separate app. That looks like it runs off a cell phone app. Is that correct?

That's right, there's an app. One more thing on the phone that demands attention/updates. Makes a cool refrigerator magnet anyway.

LoL. The updates is why I decided against that type. Went for the stand-alone version I posted earlier.

I didn’t have to wonder about the internal temperature or opening the oven door multiple times. Only took out the chicken once half way through to baste with the chicken broth. End result in the meal thread! It was yum!
