Democratic Montgomery, Alabama mayor signs ID requirement ordinance for concealed carriers

Alabama has state preemption with regard to firearm law, and is a constitutional carry state.

The ordinance authorizes law enforcement to confiscate people’s firearms if they do not have a valid identification with them while they are carrying a concealed firearm. However, people may retrieve their firearms within 30 days by presenting a valid identification, proof of ownership and by paying a fine.

No details were provided regarding the amount of the fine.
Per the author, passing constitutional carry "took away a significant source of revenue from sheriffs departments throughout Alabama." I gather that means Alabama sheriffs are on board with making inroads against it as well.

The interim Montgomery police chief likes the ordinance as well.

And let me guess if you're a white good ole' boy you might get a warning, but if you're a minority you lose your gun and still pay a fine if you're lucky.

Alabama has constitutional/permitless carry, even a licensed concealed carry would have to carry their license. This will get challenged in an Alabama court.
Under Ala. Code § 13A-11-61.3(c), the “entire field of regulation in this state touching in any way upon firearms, ammunition, and firearm accessories” is reserved to the state legislature, “to the complete exclusion of any order, ordinance, or rule promulgated or enforced by any political subdivision.”

Doubtful, given that apparently this is a Democrat enclave in Alabama. They might go after the White good ole' boy's first!

And yes, since Alabama has statewide pre-emption, this won't last in court.
