LGC is a given. Perhaps should give more. How about the SAF are they a group that is working in the courts?
I’m not a fan of most of the PR I read.

Like featureless, I generally support the 2nd Amendment Foundation in Seattle, that is Alan Gura and his legal team and the Firearms Policy Coalition in Sacramento. Alan Gura won the first modern firearms case that is D.C. vs Heller at SCOTUS. Paul Clement of Clement & Murphy, he won the NYSRPA vs Bruen case at SCOTUS. The California Rifle and Pistol Assn. headed by Chuck Michel whose law firm Michel and Associates have argued many 2A cases in CA state and federal courts. Some of the NRA lawsuits, it depends. And other groups I can't think of now.

This might be a worthy question of LGC leadership. I know LGC has been involved in amici for some cases, so have connections with the heavy hitters.
Hopefully the leadership still reads the forum. For some reason I can’t seem to access the discord account. Not enough tech savvy anymore to figure it out.

Illinois State Rifle Association and the NRA. I despise the NRA but they get yearly membership fees from me as my local private rifle club requires proof of NRA membership. Pretty sure it has to do with insurance.

The ISRA is pretty potent in Illinois and nationally for legislation and education and there seems to be a minimum of Trumpism and Hate mongering.

Soon as I figure out this retirement income thing and how much expendable income I have I'd like to pound some money at Gun Owners of America but they are too.....right Wing for me and their rhetoric is not my style.

At this point, the Virginia Citizens Defense League (VCDL), which is our version of CalGuns here in Virginia. We've argued quite a few cases, including the recent one halting enforcement of the ATF's recent expansion of "engaged in the business" of gun dealing. This would've put a lot of people who might sell some of their firearms collection at risk of the (heavily armed) Feds at their door arresting them for "dealing without a Federal Firearms License". Not good.

That lawsuit, and injuction, was done in conjunction with Gun Owners of America (GOA). Basically, any resident of four states (the ones with "legal standing" at this point), or any member of either VCDL or GOA in *any* state, presently have immunity from the ATF's overreach, until the case is actually tried and ruled on by a court, which could take Who Knows How Long.

The four states are as follows.

- Louisiana
- Mississippi
- Texas
- Utah

But waitasec, some of you might ask...why isn't Virginia on that list? And how does the VCDL have standing outside of Virginia?

Well, VCDL has quite a few members outside of Virginia, too. So, since our membership was threatened, we had legal standing.

I posed the question on Discord and will report back.
Thank you.

When I've talked to leadership in CA, there is a desire to do more in the lobbying and legal front. Reality is, our club is small and revenue is minute in comparison to many. There aren't any paid positions in club leadership. It's all volunteers. Time and money limit what can be done.

That said, I know the LGC participated in at least two Amici, Bruen at SCOTUS and the one against CAs latest CCW law (from memory).

This is something I've expressed interest in participating in, but I'm still in the employment trenches, have a remodel in progress and property to maintain...

I whole heartedly support what we have done, but considering the discussions and what the dem candidates are saying I want more bang for my buck.

Aside from the Liberal Gun Club, I am a Life member of the NRA, I haven't given them any money lately though. I am also a life member of the Second Amendment Foundation. Then, to add some confusion to the mix, I am also in a different "Liberal Gun Club." I was there for a trap shoot last weekend.

I haven’t looked around extensively, but I have toyed with the idea of getting involved in the Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus. I should see if this state-level organization works with other ones that operate on a national scale.

The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) is the gun manufacturers trade organization, it not only promotes shooting sports but also defends the Second Amendment in court. It's a target group for the anti-gunners because it has deep pockets.

Agree that Gun Owners of America (GOA) can be a bit radical. In CA there is the Calguns Foundation which CT mentioned, they work with Michel & Associates law firm on lawsuits. They also have a large online forum that tracks legislation and lawsuits. I've seen the National Association for Gun Rights listed on lawsuits, don't know anything about the organization. IDPA is big, don't know if they are part of any 2A lawsuits. NAAGA is active and so is NFAC. Then there are the concealed carry groups like USA Carry and state carry advocacy groups.

Reading through the thread, I have to add a little bit: I have yet to find a person, or a politician, or an organization who embodies my exactly same values and concerns. None shares all my policy considerations nor all the directions for change that I desire. Would it not be cool if we all could find such a unicorn? Sure. But in reality, we always have to make compromises when participating in American life. The Liberal Gun Club shares more of my thoughts than any other gun organization, so I support it. If the Club pulls something off that does not shade my values correctly, my understanding of American life selects against my lighting my hair afire and running about aimlessly. Rather, I ask myself whether I'd like an empty magazine by supporting no organization, or a magazine with seven rounds by supporting the Liberal Gun Club? Seven rounds will be fine against an empty magazine.
