Tim Walz

And it looks like Walz!

I was personally hoping it would be him but I was resigned that it would end up being Shapiro or Kelly. Good choice, Kamala.

Walz is a safe pick for her. Harris would have had a problem with anti-Israel Democrats if she picked Shapiro, plus it was leaked that Shapiro had an aide who resigned recently over a sexual harassment complaint. Harris had the same problem with an aide and sexual harassment when she was CA AG.

Shapiro will be on the stage today in Philadelphia to welcome Harris and Walz, he's still governor of Pennsylvania.

Agreed. He's got some true progressive bonafides too. Their only line of attack will be to try and paint him as a left wing radical, but Minnesota ain't California and I don't think that'll fly. It'll also force Trump and Vance to attack free school lunch, which I suspect is actually pretty popular.

Some interesting background info I read about Walz:

Walz served for 24 years in the Army National Guard, retiring in 1999 as command sergeant major for a field artillery battalion.

"The Army calls the relationship between a CEO and a COO a “Command Team;” with the unit Commander filling the role of CEO and the Sergeant Major serving as the COO. More than anything else, this partnership sets the climate, performance, agility and success of the organization."
https://medium.com/usmc-ocs-blog/what-l ... 43f44d4865

Walz taught for nearly a decade at Mankato West High School where he was also the Defensive Coordinator for the football team.

"Mankato West had lost 27 consecutive games before Walz arrived. "We said, 'This is nonsense. Let's turn this thing around.' Three years later we were state champions, and now they're a powerhouse."
https://footballscoop.com/news/tim-walz ... nt-nominee

He owns and tinkers around on a vintage blue International Scout, a four-wheel-drive vehicle that International Harvester stopped producing in 1980.

"A Scout is obviously an amazing car choice. The Fort Wayne-built truck was manufactured by International Harvester during its foray into consumer vehicles and, being a 1979 model, it’s a Scout II. Walz gives off extreme Grandpa energy, and the Scout, while being a great truck, is definitely not hip in the way a Bronco is nor tough in the way of an old Blazer."

I'm disappointed, but innocuous choice - I preferred Kelly, but Walz will suffice. Much better credentials than 'hill billy' Vance.

Walz is a great tactical choice. Veteran, gun owner, hunter, teacher, and is not afraid to take it to Fox News.

I love how when called a socialist for getting kids free lunch he countered with, “Oh, so you’re for kids going hungry?”

He’s going to eat Vance alive

I've listened to a bunch of Walz vids. Good choice by Harris. He talks younger than the orange spirochete.

Mike Lindell says Tim Walz ruined his political career

MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell accused Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D), the Democratic vice presidential candidate, of ruining his chance to become governor of the state.

Lindell reacted to Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris' decision to pick Walz in a Tuesday interview on the War Room podcast.

The pillow executive faulted Walz for his handling of COVID-19 and riots following the death of George Floyd.

"He made horrible decisions with the China virus when that came in," Lindell opined. "We had to sit out in snow banks to eat."

Lindell recalled that he had intended to provide masks to churches during the pandemic before Walz "shut down our Christian churches."

"And I was gonna run for governor of Minnesota after the 2020 election," he revealed. "But Waltz feared that and he put out a hit job on me throughout the state, sent postcards out everywhere."

"Do we want this guy attacking me, attacking MyPillow?" Lindell asked. "He is a horrible, horrible governor, politician, and decision-maker."
https://www.rawstory.com/i-was-going-to ... al-career/

It turned into a real pillow fight and Lindell is still crying in his pillow. I wonder if Lindell will donate a pillow to TOS so he can cry in it in his jail cell when everything is said and done.

Apparently Walz likes guns and is a hunter. Well. I'll be a blue-nosed gopher. He also favors UBC and Red Flag laws. No word yet on AW's. I'll find it.

Had a dental appmt this morning and my dentist is about 40 miles away, so I listened to a lot of radio. Not surprising Walz is being painted as a left winger like Harris. A few Minnesota residents said Walz was centrist as a Congressman but moved left as governor, all the legislation that he's sponsored and signed will be used by Republicans. Harris is already the "San Francisco Liberal" and Walz will get painted as a "Minnesota Liberal." Democrats already paint Trump and Vance as right wing populists. The political slugfest is on.

And Republicans are saying Shapiro wasn't selected because he's Jewish and pro-Israel and apparently the Harris campaign let out that Shapiro wasn't selected because he's a grandstander.

They are Right wing pseudo Fascist. Talk big, but when it really comes to push and shove they will cower and cry like babies, especially TOS who would blame everybody else and claim he didn't have a thing to do with any of it.

Turns out he supported the 1994 AW ban that expired in 2004. He received an A rating from the NRA after changing his tune on an AW ban. Here's a Fox Noose article with stats. It's good to read what they have to say. They really won't be able to go after him on guns.

Yeah: all's they have is he's a radical leftist who will force you to be covered by national health care, and he'll force you to accept that there will be more child care. Dang. I'd better hide under the bed.

I admire his 'grumpy' look - reminds me of a childhood neighbor couples houses down from us - always a scowl. Gave out vinegar soaked bread as a Halloween treat and was the proverbial "Get the fuck off my lawn!" Hope he really gives the turd and side kick hell!! LOL

From at least 10/2018 until at least 4/2023 he has been in favor of banning, per Democratic/media bloc talking points, "weapons of war" or "assault-style weapons."

I know that there's no place for weapons of war in our schools, or in our churches, or in our banks, or anywhere else people are just trying to live their lives without fear. I got an A rating from the NRA my first term in Congress. Now I get straight F's. And I sleep just fine. We're going to have universal background checks. We're going to have a red flag law. And if anyone in America doubts that we can take meaningful action to protect our kids, I've got two words for you: Watch us.

Tim Walz (D): Yes. Supports expanded background checks & banning assault-style weapons--not arming teachers (he was a teacher for 20 years).

I don't think that "weapons of war" label is going to do much good. Most of the guns in my safe used to be weapons of war. Admittedly bolt guns from 80 to 140 years ago, yeah. Bolt action drive by's are one shot. hehe

I kind of chuckle that he used to have an A rating from the NRA. He must've given them money.

His current known positions on guns is an F. I don’t know what cool aid some of you are drinking thinking he’s somehow one us. Well perhaps he is exactly what some here want, but not all here are going to swallow the BS. He’s as big anti gun type as biden and harris.

I'm pretty sure I've never in all my years voted for or even knew about a politician with whom I agreed on everything. But I do remember how my family and I suffered mightily during those ten years of the AW ban. Every day I look in the mirror and thank my lucky stars we all made it through.

The AW ideological trade he appears to have made is for free breakfast and lunch for public school kids, woman's bodily autonomy, universal health care, free college tuition for low income students, and rapidly phasing out carbon emissions. End of the world stuff, I know. Diabolical.

I’m under no illusions that he’s some pro 2A champion. Never claimed he was. He’s progressive on the issues I care about most and by all accounts, a decent and empathetic human being. And of course, there’s the fact that Trump tried to overturn the election and remain in power unlawfully. Keeping him and the anti-democracy activists out of office remains my first priority.
