(Obviously) new to forum. Was fairly active on another forum but found it a little unwelcoming…
I suppose I should say a little about myself…
Currently living in SE Florida. Have owned firearms for years and am still learning new things.
I’d love to meet others in the area and do some training if possible.
Otherwise, I look forward to the discussions

2Pull up a stump and set a spell! Tell us what you shoot, and please provide pictures (doesn't have to be of firearms, can be cats, dogs, rabbits...)!
Eventually I'll figure out this signature thing and decide what I want to put here.

7Thanks for the welcome!
About me… long walks on the beach , poetry, and candle lit bath….
I do actually enjoy the beach, lol as if my user name didn’t give it away.
I’m a pretty average shooter. Owned guns for years and go to the range as much as possible. I have a rather unexciting selection of firearms - a few carry pistols, 22lr rifle, 12 guage, and a S&W FPC.
I grew up in the Bahamas, and moved to FlorIda as a kid. I have been lucky to live and work in several countries and on both coasts of the US as a surfboard manufacturer and yacht repair.
We did a fair bit of dove hunting in the bush in the Bahamas with shotguns. And have a pig hunt trip coming up here in Florida sometime soon.
I have done some basic pistol training, and am currently looking for a source for some tactical training. I don’t want to kick doors, just effective shooting in defense of my family - we had a neighbor who got addicted to drugs and had a few tense moments before he got evicted.
I am active in martial arts, specifically Filipino styles.
Look forward to contributing and learning more!
Thanks

Where in the Bahamas did you grow up? We have a house in Abaco for 11 years now. Dove and boar hunting is common on Abaco, as is crawfish season--which opened Thursday. Bonefishing is popular too, though I don't see the point of catch and release. Conch fritters, a good seafood Souse, and Peas'n'Rice are all treats.

I had some family in Treasure Cay for a while but have lost touch.

10Welcome! What's your S&W PC? I got a 627 that's my all-time favorite gun.

11Sorry, that should have been FPC - the folding carbine.senorgrand wrote: Tue Aug 06, 2024 3:19 pm Welcome! What's your S&W PC? I got a 627 that's my all-time favorite gun.
Which is a lot of fun to shoot!
If you’re asking about carrying, I have an M&P 2.0 - which is also why I got the FPC.
Re: Hello from SE Florida
13I admit that I not at a point where it makes a huge difference.
However, it seems crisp and close enough to my carry that I don’t feel any difference.
The biggest complaint is the bolt release is basically useless as it is just too small and awkward to function properly.

14Hey! Welcome to the forum! Sorry to hear you had a bad experience on the other forum, but glad you found us! SE Florida, nice! What kind of firearms do you have in your collection? And yeah, training with like-minded folks is always a great idea. We've got a few members from FL, maybe we can set something up. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts in our discussions!Nomadsurfer wrote: Sat Aug 03, 2024 8:18 pm (Obviously) new to forum. Was fairly active on another forum but found it a little unwelcoming…

Re: Hello from SE Florida
15I haven't been active here in a long time, but would welcome a chance to shoot in the south Florida area. With others. I am a regular at Markham Park most Saturday morning, but travel for longer ranges at times. Pick a time and place and I am likely to show.

16Must admit I don't care much for Nassau. We looked at several houses on Exuma, both islands. Very, Very beautiful.Nomadsurfer wrote: Tue Aug 06, 2024 8:37 am I grew up in Nassau, and Exuma.

Of course, Abaco is the northeastern-most island group.

I don’t think anyone really likes Nassau, lol
I have family there, but rarely visit. Exuma and Long Island are my typical destinations.
I have been to Abaco a few times - Green Turtle cay, and Hopetown are gorgeous.
My relatives in Treasure Cay are no longer around, and was very sad seeing the destruction after Dorian.

I’m in your area. Go to Markham (to mountain bike) regularly but haven’t been shooting there in years.
Mostly go to the revamped National Armory in Atlantic.
I’m up for getting together sometime.

Thanks for the welcome.
I know we all like to discuss politics, but some forums just get too heated and can be unreasonably one sided.
From what I see here, and I have been lurking for a while, everyone here seems to remain civil. Which, on the internet, is a great change!
