Moon clips

1
Amateur enthusiast and just bought a new S&W 442 pro series because I really enjoy my 637. Today I tried the moon clips and they were difficult for me to load and the cylinder was difficult to close as well. Did I do something wrong? I’m assuming it won’t hurt to not use them, right?

Thanks. Bought some federal self defense low pressure. I will try some other brands I have.

I have a convertible Taurus that has a .357 mag/.38 special cylinder and a 9mm cylinder. You cannot and should not use the clips in one, and it works much better to use them with the 9mm. Taurus says you must but many users say you don't need them--just harder to extract the shells. I prefer to use them. I think Taurus calls them starclips rather than moon clips. Not that it matters.

Thanks. They came with the firearm from the factory so assuming they are meant to be used with my .38 special cartridges. After some research it appears that some love and some hate. I guess I’m going to fall into the category of neither one and leave em in the bag.

Thanks for your comments Yankee Tarheel.
