Hello! I'm interested in acquiring a AR-15. From what I've read, the HK's piston system seems well regarded for accuracy, and offers a great lifespan (yes, for a price). My wife (who is very petite) and my kids (eventually) will also need to be able to use the rifle. For this reason, I was thinking a suppressor might be a good idea to reduce the intimidation factor. By the time you add a suppressor to a 16" barrel, the gun's getting a little long to round corners within a home, so an SBR with a suppressor seemed like a great middle ground. My issue is, even after reading a bunch online (admittedly, late into the night), I'm not sure if this is feasible in Missouri, if I hope to have the rifle in my possession by, say, August or September.
Does anyone have any advice on getting my hands on one of these in a shorter time frame? Are there any Missouri shops that could facilitate such a purchase? Alternatively, should I just pickup the stock 16" HK and be happy with it without a suppressor? I've shot a DI AR-15 before and loved the accuracy and ease of use, but worry about the weight for the smaller folks.
Thanks!
Re: Potential SBR Purchase in Missouri
2I'm not sure what you mean by shorter time frame. If we're talking about acquiring and owning one legally, I think the tax stamp would take longer than by September, although I'm not sure. But the point is, I'm not aware of any way to speed up the tax stamp process from the consumer's point of view. It's all up to the government admin. You'd basically be submitting two forms, for SBR and suppressor. Even if you ordered one right now, let's say a stockless AR15 "pistol" of your choice, a separate stock to add later, and began the suppressor purchase process, it would probably take far longer than by September when you finally had all your stuff on hand.
