Glock trigger "safety" strikes again.

Also from that page;
5. A New Zealand man was left with serious injuries to his bottom after he was accidentally shot by his pet dog. The pair were getting into vehicle after butchering a pig when the pooch jumped up and landed on the .22 rifle which had previously been used to kill the pig, firing it at his owner.

From the article :

"As he walked back to his house, he tripped and fell, causing the gun to discharge and accidentally shoot him in the leg, just above his knee.

Bullshit...

Likely a more accurate accounting :

As he walked back to his house, carrying the gun with his finger on the trigger, he tripped and fell, jarring his finger which was on the trigger, thus causing the gun to discharge and accidentally shoot him in the leg, just above his knee

From the basic firearms safety rules :

Finger OFF the trigger until ready to fire.

Although not readily available, somewhere I have a video link illustrating the safeness of the Glock pistol, where someone drops a loaded Glock pistol down a stairwell. That pistol bounces around like crazy down the stairwell and NEVER fires.

I will admit it. I negligently discharged a Glock. Nobody knew it, because I was pointed down range and all, but I did. My finger just did a light stroke of the trigger and the fucker went boom. This is why I spent $200 more and bought a Sig.

Awright, somebody has to jump in now and defend Glocks, and it's my turn.
A Glock cannot AD under any foreseeable conditions. Well, except maybe a fire. This is in stark contrast to fixed-pin weapons.

To my mind, a good holster is part of my Glock. There's your extra safety, if you need it to keep clear of the trigger.
Tucked in an MTAC, that baby's not going anywhere, and I couldn't touch the bang switch if I tried.

Glocks are great for lefties, too. (Thus my screen name.)
YMMV.

Alfred P. Doolittle wrote:Yeah, funny thing about that Glock trigger safety. It tends to not work when one's finger is on the trigger. Did Plaxico Burress not teach us anything?

I like to think of the Glock trigger as a sort of semi-automated douchenozzle detector.

I always give my brother shit because he bought the XD over the Glock. I told him the XD is just a Glock that's been redesigned by lawyers. It's funny to me how many people avoid Glocks because the only safety is to keep your finger off the trigger. But, they don't have any problem with double action revolvers. And a Glock doesn't have a trigger like a 1911. I mean, it takes some pull deliberate pull to activate that striker fired pistol. The only way to have a negligent discharge with a Glock is to place your finger on the trigger, and squeeze. I, for one, will defend the Glock. I have owned 3 of them; all Glock 17's (one was the 17L). There's a reason so many police forces around the world use the Glock; it always works when you need it to.
