Are you saying that the catch doesn't return, or is operating when it should not?
In my youth, while visiting South Carolina, a man named Tipton would tell me to Clean, Dry, and Lubricate.

Is the magazine inserted? Does this happen with all magazines? Are you using the proper Sig OEM magazines? Does the slide catch get stuck when there is No magazine inserted?

I don’t own one, but if the slide lock is stuck in the up position then something is wrong. It should easily push down and release the slide. It should also remain down until it locks up when the magazine is empty. Once you insert a full magazine and pull the slide back it should be easily go to its down position. I would recommend disassembling the gun and inspecting the parts. I’m not familiar with the procedure on this particular gun, since I don’t own one. Sounds like something is broken or jammed for some reason. It could just need a cleaning and lube.

And check the magazine. I once disassembled a magazine and put the follower in wrong and it wanted to lock the slide. Can you still drop the magazine? A picture will help us, help you, if you can get one.
