Norma frangible 9mm 65gr.

1
One of the online bulk-ammo dealers from which I have bought in the past sent me an email informing me that they have Norma 65gr frangible pistol rounds at less than a quarter-shekel per round if I buy a thousand rounds.

I understand the concept of frangible rounds, and have even considered them for a home defense round simply because I wouldn't have to worry as much about over-penetration (my HD mags are loaded with hollow point, currently).

Has anyone shot this stuff? Does it foul your barrels more than JHP or FMJ stuff? I've gone through a magazine or three of Federal frangible pistol rounds with no apparent ill effect to the pistol, and I'm ALWAYS looking for lower prices on decent training ammo, but I'm also aware of the "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is" mantra.

Thoughts?
Eventually I'll figure out this signature thing and decide what I want to put here.

I think you're better off buying FMJs at that price point in the same weight class and velocity as the defensive rounds you prefer.

Frangibles have a very specific use case - high volume indoor tactical training, to avoid splashback. There's a secondary application for longer range shooting where you want the light weight, high velocity to extend your point blank out a ways - but that transonic transition is rough on light bullets.

i like the idea for target shooting, but I've moved towards standardizing my ammunition towards rounds I could hunt with in a survival scenario or use defensively if needed. I don't believe in TEOTWAWKI scenarios, but if one happens, I don't think anyone is going to be bartering for frangibles.

I've had at least accuracy and reliability from sintered ammo from several different brands. I've found no differences in fouling or maintenance and the recoil and control is noticeably better.
To be vintage it must be older than me!
The next gun I buy will be the next to last gun I ever buy. PROMISE!
