Coolfire looks interesting, but the only thing in my safe they have a barrel to fit is a P10C. No, wait, they offer one for my spouse's SigSauer P365XL. It's well over twice what I paid for my MantisX.
Virtra is a neat concept, as it adds recoil (powered by CO2). Won't fit anything we own.
Dvorak doesn't offer anything to fit any of our current pistols, either.
Same for whatever that thing on Amazon is.
I have a MantisX that I bought from the LGC store, and it's a neat piece. I would use it a whole lot more if it wasn't that the cycling of the pistol action wouldn't get twigged by my elderly father-in-law, who is retired career Air Force SP (my spouse and I share a big house with her folks because they are both dealing with age-related memory challenges and we refuse to consign them to the assisted-living/nursing home/funeral home pipeline). Several of the MantisX2 drills involve tones, and I don't want to have to have the conversations with elders who are dealing with various forms of dementia that would ensue.
FWIW, I think the first shot from draw is going to be pretty darned crucial, and a lot of my dry fire practice is based on that hypothesis. When I'm doing draw-to-dry-fire exercises, I am sort-of okay with racking my slide before reholstering. I'm trying to develop the habit of tapping my magazine before I rack the slide, but I don't know how much I need to think about that. The pistol my MantisX2 is on is usually my P07, which of course has a DA/SA trigger.
Eventually I'll figure out this signature thing and decide what I want to put here.
