You never know what gems might be hiding in the Boxes of Shame; holsters long relegated to obscurity that have learned the lesson and now want to play nice and take turns with all the lucky holsters. Recently I discovered one such wayward child hiding beneath a bunch of Bucheimer and Brauer Bros and Hunter holsters.
It's an old Roy Baker Original Pancake holster. Roy Baker was a holster maker in Magnolia Arkansas and perhaps the first "Concealed Carry" designer. Back in the late 60s early 70s the Roy Baker Pancakes were the choice when it came to holsters for concealed carry. This one is still in remarkably good condition and I bought it back in the 1980s IIRC for the disastrous Colt 80 Series nightmare pistol. The Colt was long long gone and the holster got put away. I may have taken it out when I had the equally horrid Dan Wesson 1911 but don't have any pictures of the DW in it so more likely it simply sat at the bottom of the box.
The holster really is comfortable and remarkably easy to snap the thumb break but why I ever considered it as concealed I'll likely never understand.
Found at the bottom of one of my Boxes of Shame.
1To be vintage it must be older than me!
