So let me begin by saying first; it is well documented here, just how much I dislike Tea Baggers. They are generally racist, uneducated freaks, who are nothing more than boarder line skinhead agitators. Foolishly working for the man, because they are all societal submissives. (And do their best to give rational Gun Owners a bad name.)
Also I worked for two years for the Starbucks chain, then in 2008 I was in a location "downsized" (aka closed). I left before they closed in August of 2008 to work for "Clean Water Action" only after several days working there, I was laid off due to lack of donations. (I was a "Canvasser" for them knocking on people's doors bugging them for donations at dinner time. Job sucked. And oh yeah, I got laid off on September 19th, 2008. Was a bad day for the economy.)
Well Starbucks was notified that I filed for unemployment, since they were the employer who would have to pay, they used a lawyer to fight me on a insane technicality. They won. So much for labor rights there. (The tech. was I gave Starbucks 2 weeks notice before I was officially hired at CWA. And even though I was correct on when I was going to start, I was not qualified for unemployment. Talk about bullshit labor law!)
Anyways, it is also well known here, I'm not a fan of "Open" carry. I find it A. Stupid, making yourself an easy to spot target for criminals who are concealed.
And B. Open Carry is more an excuse for people who would be denied a CC for valid reasons, the ability to now carry. (If you beat your wife the Sheriff will deny a CC, yet you can still open carry. I don't see whats wrong with having to prove you should be ok to carry.)
So now this group of three I have issues with are united, here from an Uber Right wing outlet is the new Tea Party love story of Shultz and Starbucks. As always expoliting the 2nd Amendment to win followers:

2Uhhh, no you can't. If you beat your wife in PA, and the law hears about it, you are disarmed.spikerogan wrote: (If you beat your wife the Sheriff will deny a CC, yet you can still open carry.

Re: Starbucks, Tea Baggers, and Open Carry...all in one stor
3I gather you felt "the writing was on the wall", and quit before they closed...you formally quit, giving a two week notice. They rightfully denied paying unemployment benefits, as they should have. Had you remained until formally laid off, or even were fired, in the former you should have received benefits...in the latter you still have a great chance of receiving benefits.spikerogan wrote: (The tech. was I gave Starbucks 2 weeks notice before I was officially hired at CWA. However...you quit. I don't see any wrong doing on their part.
I once worked at an engineering firm who was teetering on bankruptcy. Many were leaving...I was one of the few who kept trying to hang in there (but still looking for other opportunities). Eventually found one (at a handsome increase in salary to boot), and formally quit. Several weeks later, the engineering firm went under...well, remaining assets were bought by another firm.
I guarantee you, even if that office did in effect close, had I later tried to file for unemployment I would have no legal standing to do so, and they would have fought it.

The friends of mine who are physicians, accountants, teachers, and engineers, or business owners...who share many Tea Party ideals would find quite a bit of irony, and a certain degree of amusement, in that statement.

5Correct sir...Open Carry does not do away with the laws governing who legaly can purhcase a firearm. If a convicted felon is open carrying, he was already a criminal when he illegally purchased a firearm. Concealed carry, open carry...nothing would prevent a person like that from posessing it if they wanted it...short of being behind bars.JayFromPA wrote:Uhhh, no you can't. Myself...still have mixed opinions on open carry. I think it works better in more rural settings than urban. It can eliminate some hassles in rural environemnts, or hunting, camping, and fishing pursuits.

6I'm all for CC, but every time I see a video of a civilian that open carries, whether it's those guys at the Starbucks in Eastern Washington, or this guy:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pUd_00Xrf_U
I have to swallow the puke as it comes up my throat.
Like really? Are people really this stupid? What kind of psycho walks down a busy road Open Carrying an AK?
This isn't Yemen, this isn't Sudan, or Somalia! It's like that retard OC advocate who shot that guy at the grocery store over a verbal confrontation. Why are people surprised that others are freaked out by this? DUH. People get freaked out by "printing"!
I don't see any reason to OC unless:
A: You're in the woods hiking/hunting/fishing
B: Zombies have taken over the Earth
C: WROL situation.
Ok my rant is over.

7Some open carry groups in California started frequenting Starbucks with their openly carried but unloaded handguns. Invariable someone would call 911 saying people have guns, the cops come to the scene and have to inspect every weapon. I'm not in favor of open carry, it makes some people feel intimidated, it wastes police time and is negative press for sensible gun ownership.

8On one hand, I can see the point trying to be made - "A right not exercised is a right eventually lost." I get that and believe in that.
But there are valid debates on both sides of that issue...certainly, I draw short of calling either side, "Stupid".
I also cringe a bit when I see someone open carrying a rifle. Of course, I only saw that at these rallies, not among urban public on an average day. If you're an open carry proponent, OK fine, but I would think it's more practical to carry something more compact as a sidearm.
I have lived in open carry states and non-open carry states. I prefer the open carry state, but still believe it works better in rural and outdoorsman activities - long guns and sidearms OK.
What I can say is I never witnessed the "hair on fire", cowboy shoot 'em up, blood in the streets scenarios the anti's like to promote on those topics - it just did not materialize.

9People aren't freaked out by the gun. Plain truth, they simply aren't. Where's the freakout when they see the openly carried pistol on the belt of a cop? It's the combination of pistol and the person carrying it, which leads to subjective judgment on the person.highdesert wrote:Some open carry groups in California started frequenting Starbucks with their openly carried but unloaded handguns. The guy that goes right past his wife, ignores his wife's attempts to get his attention, and pulls the sign out of the ground for the pretty petite blond girl... Priceless! The other videos that detail the shown white guy and the black guy blatantly show judgments of the use of a hacksaw based on the looks of the holder.
So a gun doesn't 'make' someone feel intimidated. It's their own bias toward the person doing the carrying that is playing out. And as far as wasting a cop's time... If there's a serious call over the radio for assistance, you can bet your ass they'll drop checking the rest of the starbucks people and spin the tires out of the parking lot.

10Come to California and try it, then you'll see. You can even argue with the bystander who called 911. Cops have a badge along with that gun, that is the difference.

Five men were recently charged, even though they were calm, peacable, and legally observing the open carry laws in Wisconsin. The 911 operator even informs that they were breaking no laws.
Observe, the Sheep-le in action. Credit due to her trying to correct herself and say there likely is no issue once she was better informed on the law. Of course, too late now...the "justice" system now smells revenue in raking them through the system :

Madison police did not show the same respect for the law. The two who would not produce identification, probably did not help themselves. However, all five were still wrongfully charged.

Here is the one case in point: http://www.mynorthwest.com/category/loc ... -violated/
Officer was doing his job making sure it was a person who can legally carry. See the Open Carry crowd wants the members of Law Enforcement to not be able to check them out. In other words, they support open carry for criminals. I mean if you think Police should never check the legality of Open Carry, why wouldn't criminals just start then?
