She comforted by saying I could still go shoot right handed pistols since I was ambidextrous. Once I got the clear, sounded like at least some activity flexibility will come sooner than I thought.
I've been working on Plan B through at least D lately on easy to rack, maintain, shoot and load pistols. This includes both easier to use handguns and also aids that are increasingly available.

Would there be interest in a thread where I can discuss my trials and tribulations and others can add things and tips they discover?
I will want to be on it after my heart surgery, for sure!

Sorry about all y'all having these issues. Heal up quick!
I have a pain buddy! Contains a reduced strength nerve blocker. Then additional pain killers in tablet form.

The tablets every 4-6 if I take Tramadol and every 6 hours for the Oxi-co…something. Nurse advised to alternate between depending on the pain level.

Tramadol?? I have found that to be about the most useless pain medication I've ever been given. I get better results from Aleve or aspirin than Tramadol. For a opiate it truly sucks. Hope it works for you. My last hospital stay I was given choice of Tramadol, Oxy or morphine - I chose the latter.

Oxycodone is the strongest of my prescription meds. Having a bit of a pain spike at the moment.
The Tramadol was said to be for mid to moderate pain. Yes, it’s not helping. Turning to Oxicodone.

I want to thank you guys for sharing your stories. It had an effect on me. I took on a difficult case on Thursday, I'm obeying all my post-op instructions, woke up this morning realizing how lucky I am, and am working through housework, chores, and practice management at a measured but solid pace as I keep filling my "jaw bra" (?!) with ice at regular intervals.

Ok, 48 hours post surgery. Dull throbbing pain seems manageable with the pain meds. Still 24 hours with the nerve block buddy. Having to keep my youngest kitty at a bit of a distance, he’s too energetic. Don’t want him jumping on me while I’m hooked up to this bag.

LoL. Good idea! My slightly older one can be trusted. She won’t jump on me.

Yes. It’s a pain relief system. Has a pump and it doses out the nerve blocker hourly. The bag has enough blocker and fluid for 72 hours plus. So on Monday morning I can remove the needle.

Glad you it's manageable, hopefully the discomfort will start ramping down soon.

The four legged ones are a great comfort when they are not too rowdy, the terrier was great the day after my weenie little surgery. In 2020, when I was seriously sick with diverticulitis, the fourth time I had to go to the ER, he actually ran out of the front door and stood between me and that gate, like, "No way, you are not going to that place again, next time you might not come back." And when I did, he stayed by my side for days.

Hope the felines are good with the cuddling, just not where it hurts!

Is the nerve pain blocker Neurontin or Gabapentin?

I'm dreading the post-op pain of open heart valve replacement or valve sparing. After a shit-storm of trying to get all the necessary medical docs to the surgeon, he's got everything but the CD-Rom of the Cardiac Catheter, but I have that. We see him Tuesday evening--6pm.

No idea what the nerve blocker is. I’ll see if it’s written down somewhere. Is your procedure Tuesday?

My sister goes for a CT scan of her heart and to the specialist on Thursday.

And just to keep things interesting her husband also heads to a specialist today but for possible hernia.

The surprises just keep coming.

In good news she decided that the latest Blue Bonnets is finished.

No, no, just meeting the 1st choice for surgeon Tuesday. Supposedly the best in the tri-state region. Trained most of the other local cardiac surgeons.

Still my wife had her left hip replaced by supposedly the best guy in the region and, today, 3 months to the day, she's still in awesome pain from an entrapped nerve. I feared this with her having the anterior approach vs the posterior (the older technique--both of my hips were done that way). Mechanically and structurally, you heal much faster from anterior than posterior, BUT 12% of patients have this kind of nerve disruption, and corrective surgery has really poor success rates. P/T is starting SLOWLY to help, but she's been miserable and pissed for 3 months now.

My first hip was done by supposedly one of the best--same hospital the NY Jets use and he had done 4000 replacements, and it fucked up, dislocated, went undetected for 2 weeks, and resulted in months and years of pain as a result.

YT Neurontin or Gabapentin? they are the same medicine. Neurontin is the trade name for generic name Gabapentin. That's so they can charge more for Neurontin rather than Gabapentin.

Update on my sister's CT scan adventure.

Showed up 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork if needed. Almost two hours later was told they need additional information from her doctor and will have to reschedule.

Of course.
I know they are the same but I didn't know if sikacz knew it and he could have received it under either name.
It's a very, very old drug.
