Last week the House scuttled a proposal by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to require licensed dealers in four Southwest states to report the sale of multiple long guns to the same individual. (Lawmakers attached the anti-ATF amendment to a must-pass budget bill.) The ATF proposal is narrowly tailored; the reporting requirement would be triggered only if the dealer sells within five consecutive business days two or more semiautomatic rifles greater than .22 caliber with detachable magazines.
Irony: they can sell all the .223 they want since it's .22 caliber and not "greater than" .22 caliber. If they count .223 as greater than .22 caliber then they have to include .22LR as well because 22LR bullets are .223 inches wide.whitey wrote:Call me crazy but, I see nothing wrong with this proposal:Last week the House scuttled a proposal by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to require licensed dealers in four Southwest states to report the sale of multiple long guns to the same individual. Can't say for sure but they probably have a distinction between Centerfire and Rimfire cartridges. California's AWB distinguishes between the rounds. You can't put a pistol grip on any rifle firing a centerfire round, but you can trick out your 10/22 or other rimfire rifles.Wurble wrote:Irony: they can sell all the .223 they want since it's .22 caliber and not "greater than" .22 caliber.
