Helps.

Anyways my pc went down before I spent money on WIN10.
It comes on. Lenovo pops up on the screen but won't do nothing else.
Ctrl Alt Delete don't help.
Grrrrr
Been trying to reboot it for days now. Least I got my stuff backed up.
Thank the God's for smart phones but not Apples cuz that's what killed Adam N Eve.

Looks like you're going to have to go into the BIOS and figure out what's dead. I'd bet it's your hard disk, having the boot up section damaged, or the whole hard disk is dead. If you have your install discs, you MAY be able to re-install the boot area. If you can, you're probably living on borrowed time--back up everything on your hard drive. If you can't you may be able to install another drive as your boot drive and then recover what's on your harddrive. Of course, if the drive is completely fried, your data is probably lost.

I was smart enough to buy a portable hard drive and back everything ip on it couple weeks ago. Just in the nick of time.

Cheapest all in one at costco hand some AMD processor.
I started thinking like I was buying a gun so I bought the big shiny one. Lol
Last time I went cheapest and bought a Lenovo.
I should be good for awhile.

I remember when Apple hardware was made in the USA. This was before Jobs sent all those good manufacturing jobs to Red China sweatshop slave labor factories. And we're supposed to somehow appreciate that asshole for that? No, thanks.

Microsoft used to make their mice in the USA. That's when they were actually high-quality mice. Now they're not so good anymore (I tried a MS Mouse--made in Red China--and confirmed that the quality has slipped). No reason to spend the money for M$ anymore if it's Red China crap.

And remember, both companies have been caught with backdoors and spyware on the OS's that they provide to you. GNU/Linux doesn't have that problem. And for completeness, neither do the BSD's; FreeBSD actually makes a pretty good desktop OS as well, though GNU/Linux distros tend to be friendlier to n00bies.

I need a big screen, a frigging mouse and touch screen with a real keyboard.
Cell phones are almost better than laptops. I can't handle lap tops.

Y'all should see the set up instructions with this new Dell. It's like six pictures and that's it.
I may need a youtube tutorial

Over the years I've built a half dozen PC's, refurbished another dozen or so. Have always used Arctic Silver. My very first build I used too much and had overheating problems - more is not better, in this case. I'm guessing the glob shown in vid was about 15x more than I've used in a build - except for the first. LOL

While actually building your own was exciting, I no longer do so. I'll settle for whatever is in my price range and features by a reputable manufacturer (not Apple) and with a warranty ! Although I never had a bad build beyond too much paste, it was always a sweat on first boot into BIOS with a big sigh of relief when all went well.

Pan/Gun vid was interesting. Glad it wasn't a Lodge CI skillet! I do love my collection of Lodge CI for cooking, not target practice.

Windows 7 came out in 2009 and Windows 8 in 2012, that's a long time for MS to provide updates.
Smart appliances could stop working properly after just two years because manufacturers are failing to provide tech updates, according to Which?. Research by the consumer champion found products like expensive dishwashers, TVs, and washing machines - which might be expected to last more than a decade - are "being abandoned" by brands. A lack of software support from firms means devices do not get updated. The older they get, the risk of online hacking also increases, Which? says.

It found that "hardly any brands even came close to matching their expected lifespan" with their smart update policies, while others failed to respond when they were asked to clarify the length of support. Products' operating systems need updates, because if support ends, then their functionality cannot improve. The updates also include security patches, which can fix flaws if any come to light.

Faster than a speeding boolit. The keyboard is way to clean and smooth so I besster be washing my hands. And it's white, ish ! Gah!

I haven't plugged in the back up hard drive to load all the crap that was on my old Lenovo. I was to busy setting up security cameras today. Got priorities as that bitch might come burn my fucking house down after killin my dog. It's hard not to go John Wick on her ass. Got me a new game camera too.

Some smart appliances don't really cause a worry. We have a washing machine I can start from my phone. Also a dehumidifier, sprinkler system, and a ceiling fan. As long as they can be operated manually, it's no big deal.

Some TV's, house Nest thermostat, Flume water usage monitor, garage door is all at the moment controllable from cell phone. My 8 yo LG fridge, 7 yo Samsung washer/dryer and 2 yo Whirlpool dual oven not smart. Only thing I'm thinking of adding are outdoor security cameras. Do have a Firestick that is voice controlled (which I've never used), but still use smart TV loaded programs for access to streaming services primarily. Nest and Flume save me money. Smart appliances would cost me upfront money IMO. I love technology, but some just seem so ridiculously useless/faddish than a need.

I forgot about the thermostat. Can't see how it saves us as this house is always occupied, never vaccant as all are retired. About 3 years ago, the new heat pump made a very noticable difference, however. Heat pump, made in USA. Thermostat, well you know where. It is cool looking when walking past.

Actually, I don't believe the West is listening much. Again, just look at Apple, Cisco, Juniper, HP, and so on. Just look at all the folks who buy stuff made in Red China and they don't mind as long as they get their social media fix and have food in their bellies. People really are "jacked in" now.

I am continuing to figure out how to do without "made in China" as much as I can. That's why I'm suggesting what I'm suggesting.

I'm sensing what seems to me like ambivalence about software spying on you. OK, if I'm sensing correctly, then that's a valid choice, but I consider it an invasion of privacy, especially when it can easily be avoided. I personally don't believe in having a police surveillance state. It's kinda like how when people say, "well, if you're not doing anything wrong, what do you have to hide?", I respond, "well, *since* I'm not doing anything wrong, why do you feel the need to surveil me like a police state does?"

Here's the much fuller, and far better put that I could, answer to that question.

When you squeeze enough plutonium into a small enough sphere, you get an uncontrolled runaway chain reaction that won't stop till it blows itself apart.
When you squeeze enough humans onto a small enough sphere...

I get it. There are, I'm told, countermeasures to electronic surveilance which we can avail ourselvs of. I'm all for privacy, as I don't care or even want to know what my neighbor is doing if it won't impact anyone else. There will always be an arms race, as long as there are people who wish to be armed. The price of freedom is what?

I don't know enough about software to be coherent on the subject, but is open source really all that good? Where EVERYONE who does know how to manipulate, can?
Seems to me tjhat Wikipedia is often chastized because anyone can edit the facts there also. I have tried Linux. It kinda requires more than just a pedestrian skillset, which when it cones to computers, is all I have or care to.

We are concerned that classified documents could be accessed by people who's intent may or may not be to cause us harm. I wouldn't know nor would the vast majority of people when some piece of code is spying on me. Some things are simply out of my control. I don't like it, but even Santa sees you when you are sleeping. So be good for goodness sake.

The above links give me more concern than what Steve and Bill know about my browsing habbits. The govt. knew I had guns back when everything was mail order. What we post on this and other sites could give a wealth of information to anyone who can piece it together with just the software between the ears.

If you go into the street naked, you give up some privacy. Most sites are conscidered public spaces and I dress for the occasion.

I'm not sure how I got here. Where is there an exit?

I can change my irrigation system with an app. I opted not to do my HVAC so no one can hack it and burn my house down.
I have new Ring Stick up cams outside along with the doorbell I can app with. Love it. Plus a game cam outside.
Other than that I'm all old school. Hell my old trucks had roll up windows until 2004 and no AC.

Now I'm using facial recognition with the new Dell. I like it. No entering passwords and no one can imitate this old mug less they chop off my head.
The All In one has a pop up camera so when yer done with it you can push it down into the body of the pc. No spying on me thanks.

Oh that reminds me. Some dumb ass emailed me and tried to extort money out of me cus he said he had video of me watching porn from my pc's camera.
I laughed and said well I have a sticker that covers my cam so bitch fuck off. Would I give a shit anyways? Not.

Our locally owned power utility has a program wherein they can control my free (from them) Nest thermostat. The program pays an annual $30 credit for being in program. Plus, thermostat spies on me - it knows when I leave home (thru cell phone) and adjusts the temp up or down depending on my ECO settings 65F winter- 85F summer. During summer high demand days, they set temp 5 deg. above your normal setting for 1-3 hours (you can still opt out on any given day and set wherever you want). My normal settings summer is 80F and winter 72F. During summer, when away for errands, I can check home temp from my last stop and change to cooler temp for my home arrival. I live alone so I have complete autonomy over household and no one to bitch about temps. Jake (my Boxer) is fine with my choices! LOL

So yes, my thermostat saves me money as does my Flume water monitor which constantly monitors my water usage and alarms me on cell when I've stupidly left a faucet open or have toilet or any water leak as I can see hourly usage on wifi cell. Example - to bed last night 10 PM no water usage shown until 2 AM pee; then nothing more until 6 AM hour upon rising. Any water usage registered during my down/gone hours is a leak or auto ice maker in fridge.
