Fire use in pre-homo sapiens

Yes, this is a gun board, but it's a liberal gun board where we have wide and varied interests. I would argue that the use of fire led to the development of propellants and guns, but way after the times of these two articles. The first is a CBS video interview with researchers in South Africa. I don't know how to embed the vid link, so click it to watch. I expect a PBS/NOVA hour long show about this in the future. It is that homo naledi used fire.

This article echoes the one below, about evidence of cooking foods from 780,000 years ago.

Come on. Anybody who watches the history network knows that all developments were brought to us by aliens.

There was a show on educational tv years ago called "Connections" discussing how a set of inventions and/or discoveries led to another advancement i.e. the perfume spray bottle leading to the carburetor. Some episodes are available on UTube.

Our distant ancestors were just as smart as us but their survival needs didn't include computers or cable tv. Their need for stand off weapons didn't include rockets, but they did come up with longer and sharper weapons.

Exactly. The carburetor development is fascinating and logical when one thinks about how it works.

Those of you who have netflix can check out Graham Hancock's controversial "Ancient Apocalypse" series. He postulates that humans had a civilization before the last Ice Age, and he runs with that, generating controversy. He also has books about that, which I have not yet read.

Just ask someone a simple question and see how many grab their phone to look it up. This seems to really be true of people under fifty.
