Online ammo prices

Is it just me or are online ammo prices lots lower than retail?
Compared prices on 9mm, .380 and 38 special and it seems, even with shipping, 30-40% lower than places like Cabela's.
$13 for 50 9mm, as an example..best at Cabela's 'about' $18 for 50 Herters...

9mm 115 FMJ about $0.40/rd and .40S&W 180 FMJ about $0.50/rd. at local Academy stores with no quantity limits. Both still about double what I last paid two years ago. Thankfully I still have plenty since I haven't been to range in ages and ages (roughly 2K each).

I shop with online retailer Target Sports USA they have descent pricing. Even better, I pay for their "Prime" membership. Free shipping and I believe 6% off retail. The membership fee is $99, but with the amount I buy, I saved $450 last year alone between discounts and free shipping.

But like Wino said, prices are double or more than pre-pandemic.

I like to support the local businesses and see freight a large overwhelming cost to ammo. Plus it's not safe. I had 1K rounds of 9mm sitting on top of my pony wall once for everyone in the world to see. I guess it was to heavy to place behind the wall. dick
When I recently bought my new Vaquero I couldn't find any online but my local Big 5 had a stack!

For a while, the Cabela's house brand 115gr. was the most consistent low price. However, I recently saw where I could get Blazer 5200 a nickel cheaper per round at landed cost from a dealer I found on AmmoSeek.

And, of course, "landed cost" includes shipping.

YMMV, as usual.
Eventually I'll figure out this signature thing and decide what I want to put here.

Herters(Cabela house brand, made by Winchester) is $18 per 50...'some' places I have seen(AB guns, SGAmmo) have brass cased FMJ for around $13 per 50. $.10 less per round.

Ad from Academy Stores today for Blazer Brass 9mm FMJ 115gr 50 ct. @ $14.99+Tax. Still $0.10 to $0.12 rd. higher than last bought some time back, but damn sure better than has been of recent.

That's a good price. Just looked at a chain here and 100 rounds of Blazer FMJ is $42.99 and 50 rounds of American Eagle is $29.99, same price for Federal Champion 50 rounds.

I'm seeing Blazer brass case 115gr. FMJ for a quarter a round plus shipping on AmmoSeek, and a few weeks ago I got a thousand rounds for less than thirty pence landed cost.

I sure do prefer buying local, but the most reliable local price is Herter's at 35. Every now and again, the Range USA store has a sale on something halfway decent at 32.
