2A friend of mine has one of those.
Very nice, well built, light, and a PAST recoil pad is advised.

3Might be interesting if it came with a 28” barrel.
Re: REINTRODUCING THE MARLIN® MODEL 1895 TRAPPER LEVER-ACTION RIFLE
4Hmm, “rapid target acquisition” with a 45-70? Jeebus.

5I shoot better with a long sight radius. I wouldn’t want to shoot clays with a 16” barrel shotgun either.Bisbee wrote: Thu May 19, 2022 5:50 am Hmm, “rapid target acquisition” with a 45-70? Jeebus.

6Marlin is owned by Ruger and Ruger is known for large caliber guns.

8I'm totally glad about the quality of these--I have Marlins and Rugers and can confirm the quality is high. The short barrel here is designed for quick action in the woods: "Trapper." Sure, it would be more accurate with a longer barrel and sight radius. The short one is quicker. At home, I'm sure lookin' at the business end of one of those would be like peering down a train tunnel to Hell.

9Then that would be the first one Ruger/Marlin came out with, 1895 SBR with a 19 inch barrel.

I like the straight walled ammo. Not sure why but it appeals to me. If I ever run into one on the shelf it's going to be really hard not to grab it.

10Yes. Ruger pistols may be cheaper than other gun manufacturers, but they don't scrimp on quality.sikacz wrote: Thu May 19, 2022 7:04 amAnd solid quality.highdesert wrote: Thu May 19, 2022 6:54 am Marlin is owned by Ruger and Ruger is known for large caliber guns.

12Standing by for the .454/.45 colt version… for those of us east of the mighty Mississippi, .45-70 is too beaucoup.

14If I had an extra $3K in my pocket (so that I could buy a few dozen rounds of ammo), I might could justify having one...
Eventually I'll figure out this signature thing and decide what I want to put here.

Plus one would look awesome next to my other two lever guns.

Personally I want one in .405 Win. Not sure there's all that much difference between a .405 or a 45-70.
