A Senate committee killed a bill that would have allowed guns on college campuses. Other bills that would have done away with the requirement to get a permit to carry a concealed handgun and made permits issued in any state good in Virginia died in a usually gun-friendly House committee after their sponsors said there wasn't enough time to work out problems.
Anti-gun bills to require background checks from all buyers at gun shows and ban the sale of magazines that hold 20 or more rounds of ammunition also died.
