My daughter's office went on lock down.

So a police stop turns into a chase, which ends in the parking structure of my daughter's office, with shots fired. Building goes on lock down. My daughter's quickly locks her office door. She goes to her desk and opens that special drawer that her momma has filled with emergency supplies. She's ready. She told me later that she felt calm because she was equipped. It makes me happy to hear that.

The thing is, this is not the first time some member of my family has been in a lock down!

My wife as a local .gov employee worked in a building she could not take any weapon in to her office. There were lock boxes outside the check point if you wished to carry your weapon to work. That should be the norm and all school kids and staff should be screened. It shouldn't have to be but thats the only way it's going to be safe.
She was pretty safe inside and the immediate outside because that where all the county detectives worked. You could stand outside the door and watch armed people go in and out all day long minute by minute.
She has had death threats many times and had to get an armed escort to the parking garage. She is OK with guns but will not carry one, even in the car which frustrates the F'k out of me.

Glad for a safe and happy outcome. Very glad your daughter was prepared.

Lockdowns are no fun. I've worked places that had active shooters. Have never been allowed to be prepared to fight back. Well, not legally. I hate the lockdown training. It's stupid and trains people to get killed. Training and plans for SHTF have little in common. But the goal is to get everyone home alive. Most everyone, that is.
