Its an editorial view of the show that I am sure will provide fodder for discussion. :)

Has anyone actually ever been to a SHOT Show?

I came as close as hauling part of the Remington booth back to the corporate office in NC. This isn't a dealer only show? It's open to the public?

You know that feeling when something is true but you probably shouldn't say it...

“We had the post-Obama boom, now I think we’re seeing a post-Tucson boom.”

It is a trade show from what I understand. Open to "industry and industry press". I always thought the shot show was like E3 for gun (that is the Electronic Entertainment Expo for those non-gamers out there). Like most industry trade shows if you don't have some connection to the industry then I assume you can't get in.

Mark, I would be very surprised if we were unable to get admittance for the LGC in some form, particularly being that we are most certainly ...um, gun related. Even if we were just to send a "press" contingent. If Nutnfancy can get in... :shifty:

A representative should give them a call.

ETA: Ya'know, the more I think about it, I'll bet we could even get a booth if we could raise the funds.

I was just browsing their site and came upon these 3 changes for the 2012 show...
"- To improve overall attendee experience we will be reducing exhibit space to provide
more common space, widen aisles and reset the SHOT Show floor.
- Since the SHOT Show exhibit space will be reduced in size and the net effect will result
in no significant movement of exhibit locations, the traditional SHOT Show space draw
for the 2012 SHOT Show will be suspended.
- Booth space for the 2012 SHOT Show will be assigned by Reed Exhibitions according
to priority points in the months following the 2011 show."

The priority points thing sounds sort of subjective. But advertising can still be bought...

It would be could if we could associate with some sort of vendor or manufacturer to post a banner or something. Couldn't find pricing, but I wonder what the cost of the ads versus a booth are.

A booth idea would be interesting enough in itself just to see the reactions from the wing nuts.

It would be frightening. I can look into it.

I can tell you that sponsorship is out of our price range:

Advertisement in their program:

That is out of our price range, but a listing in their 'directory' is probably something we could do:

Personally, I think we would reach more of our target audience by advertising on NPR shows.

Yeah, I agree about the NPR thing. So should we have people donate at the member level(to get name played on air) in the club .com's name during 5 o'clock traffic when everyone is at a standstill on the highways?

NPR is definitely our target audience.

Lost Wages is about a three hour drive from where I live and I'd just like to walk through it one day, but alas I have no industry affiliation. Nutanfancy (an a-hole) probably got press credentials or got in on the credentials of one of the Utah gun shops he mentions in his "reviews". Someone should develop a "virtual Shot Show walk through" there we could examine new firearms.

From what I understand Nutanfancy is also active military. If you read the page I posted about the requirements to get in you just have to show proof of your active military status. Or he could get in on a "press" pass. From what I understand the standard for "fire arms press" is pretty low.
