I just heard this afternoon on ATC (NPR) the Abbott is asking the Texas SC to overrule the lower court that blocked Abbott's ban on mandates.
One commenter said it was the same as if, in the approach of a Cat 5 hurricane, Abbott said local authorities couldn't order forced evacuations!

Perfect analogy!

NRA forced to cancel huge annual meeting due to high COVID rate in Texas

The National Rifle Association (NRA) was forced to cancel its annual meeting due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Texas has seen a surge in COVID-19 cases, as just over 46 percent of its residents are fully vaccinated, and the state government has also banned mask mandates.

Those problems are now forcing even the NRA to fear the dangers of the virus in the state.

"We make this difficult decision after analyzing relevant data regarding COVID-19 in Harris County, Texas. We also consulted with medical professionals, local officials, major sponsors & exhibitors, and many NRA members before arriving at this decision. The NRA Annual Meeting welcomes tens of thousands of people, and involves many events, meetings, and social gatherings," said a statement released by the NRA.

The event will not be rescheduled or moved to another location, it will simply be canceled. The statement ended saying that they look forward to see folks in Louisville in May 2022.

But, Texas doesn’t need mask Mandate according to the Dear Leader Governor Moe Abbott.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott expands vaccine mandate ban in wake of FDA approval of Pfizer vax

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Wednesday expanded his ban of vaccination mandates in his state, just two days after the Food and Drug Administration gave full approval to Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine.

As reported by the Texas Tribune's Joshua Fechter, Abbott's original order only barred vaccine mandates for vaccines that were authorized by the FDA for emergency use only -- but now Abbott is banning institutions from mandating vaccines even if they have full FDA approval.

"Given the legislature's primacy and the need to avoid a patchwork of regulations with respect to vaccinations, it is appropriate to maintain the status quo of prohibiting vaccine mandates through executive order while allowing the legislature to consider this issue while in session," Abbott wrote in his order.

Abbott, who tested positive for COVID-19 just last week despite being fully vaccinated, has been staunchly opposed not only to vaccination mandates but also to mask mandates in public schools.

Just waiting for the smaller Texas Counties to have more COVID cases than healthy people.

Here's two stories that show Karma is a Bitch.
Georgia cop who pushed people to take horse dewormer instead of vaccine dies from COVID-19

A captain at the Wayne County Sheriff's Office who promoted anti-vaccination propaganda on his Facebook page has died from COVID-19.

Local news station WSAV reports that Capt. Joe Manning died this week at the age of 57 after what Sheriff Chuck Moseley described as a brief battle with COVID-19.

"Captain Manning was an integral part of our family and our hearts are broken," Moseley said. "Our love and prayers go forward to his family."

Manning, who is survived by his wife, three children, and eight grandchildren, frequently posted anti-vaccine messages on his Facebook page, as documented by The Intercept's Ken Klippenstein.

On August 14th, for instance, Manning posted a meme that stated, "If we lose on vaccines we will completely lose our right to sovereignty over our own bodies."

That very same day, Manning informed his friends that "Wayne Feed and Seed has some liquid and past Ivermectin get it while supplies last."

Some conservatives recently have promoted taking horse deworming medicine that contains ivermectin, even though it was not designed to treat the deadly virus.

When someone asked Manning in the comments if he needed to be dewormed, Manning replied, "don't care as long as it works."

In fact, the Center for Disease Control has advised people to not take horse deworming medicine that happens to contain ivermectin, as such medicines are designed for animals that weigh several times what the typical human weights.

Additionally, there is not nearly enough data yet to conclude whether ivermectin is an effective treatment for COVID-19.

He should have listen to the information from the horse's mouth not the ass.
Pastor dies from COVID after church told members 'not to worry' about virus because 'God is in control'

A beloved Kentucky pastor has died from COVID-19, after his church advised members on its website "not to worry" about the coronavirus because "God is in control."

Tim Parsons, senior pastor at Center Point Church in Lexington, died one day after the church embarked on a period of prayer and fasting asking the Lord to restore him "back to his normal self," the Christian Post reports.

Center Point Church had been meeting in person but temporarily switched to online worship — "out of an abundance of caution" —after Parsons was hospitalized earlier this month, according to a report from the local CBS affiliate.

In a frequently asked questions section on the church's website, one of the topics is, "Should I be worried about COVID-19?"

"We don't want to be worried because the Bible tells us not to worry," the site states. "We know that God is in control and that He can use all suffering to draw people to Himself. We do want to be wise by practicing what the CDC calls 'safe distancing.' We can also look for opportunities to turn Coronavirus conversations into gospel conversations."

In a Facebook post Thursday morning announcing Parsons' death, the church said he was "loved by many and he leaves an impactful legacy in the lives of thousands of people."

He must have gotten the wrong god's number and was listening to Loki. As his followers listen and followed his advice, he did leave an impact on many of their lives, about six feet by three feet by six feet deep.

Another tragic story.
When U.S. Army veteran Daniel Wilkinson started feeling sick last week, he went to the hospital in Bellville, Texas, outside Houston. His health problem wasn't related to COVID-19, but Wilkinson needed advanced care, and with the coronavirus filling up intensive care beds, he couldn't get it in time to save his life.

"He loved his country," his mother, Michelle Puget, told "CBS This Morning" lead national correspondent David Begnaud. "He served two deployments in Afghanistan, came home with a Purple Heart, and it was a gallstone that took him out."
Roughly 24 hours after he walked into the emergency room, Daniel Wilkinson died at the age of 46.

Email conversation with a small manufacturing company I do consulting/sales work for in a rural town south of SATX said they had couple of people out with covid, saying most have vax, but some not and using ivermectin. Thankfully, I've only remotely worked for them since Jan. 2020 and it has been spotty this year. Animal wormer in lieu of vax is stunning, but not unexpected there - true turd territory.

They are like many other people don't want to listen to the experts such as scientists with doctoral degrees because they have been told those eggheads really don't know what the real world is about. Also a big part is they feel inferior when their beliefs are challenge by real facts from a person they see as an authoritarian figure. They have grown up with a set of beliefs and don't or can't give up those beliefs when confronted by facts that counter them. That's what makes a conservative. Many times it is a lack of true education. True Education is when a person is taught to look and analyze gather facts and then make a decision based on them. Also be willing to change their beliefs and assumptions based on facts not hearsay.

Our educational system and our elected leaders are failing us.

https://www.cnn.com/interactive/2019/05 ... news-intl/

We don’t hold those responsible that make misinformation spread. There should be education and there should be accountability.
“Facebook, Twitter, Google/YouTube … who are enablers of Russian trolls … they really should be regulated,” said Jessikka Aro, a journalist with Finland’s public broadcaster YLE, who has faced a barrage of abuse for her work investigating Russian interference, long before it was linked to the 2016 US elections.

“Just like any polluting companies or factories should be and are already regulated, for polluting the air and the forests, the waters, these companies are polluting the minds of people. So, they also have to pay for it and take responsibility for it.”

'Win for Common Sense': Judge Strikes Down DeSantis Ban on Mask Mandates

A Florida judge delivered a blow to Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis' effort to stop public schools from mandating mask-wearing amid the state's latest surge in Covid-19 cases, ruling that the governor violated the Florida Constitution with his executive order last month.

Second Judicial Circuit Judge John Cooper sided with several parents who sued DeSantis and his Department of Education over the state's directive which barred school districts from requiring face coverings and threatened to withhold state education funding if school boards disobeyed.

Cooper granted the parents an injunction against the Department of Education and noted in his ruling that the state's "parent's bill of rights," which lawmakers passed earlier this year and which DeSantis claimed allowed him to keep schools from following public health guidance, "doesn't ban mask mandates."

Florida Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried, a Democrat who is running to replace DeSantis a governor, called the ruling "a win for common sense, for children's safety, and for all the families and school officials who have been fighting to protect their loved ones, students, and staff."

The governor indicated earlier this week that he planned to appeal Cooper's decision to a more conservative appeals court if the ruling was not in his favor.

Several school districts have defied DeSantis' order in recent weeks despite his threat to pull funding, and as of Thursday, more than half of Florida's 2.8 million public school children were going to schools which have adopted mask mandates.

Cooper handed down his ruling as CDC Director Rochelle Walensky on Friday warned that outbreaks are beginning to overwhelm schools in districts choosing not to follow public health guidelines including masking, social distancing, and ventilation.

"In our outbreak investigations, large-scale quarantines or large number of cases are generally occurring in schools, because schools are not following our guidance, particularly our recommendations for teachers as well as students aged 12 and over to be vaccinated and for everyone right now to be masked," Walensky said.

"I want to strongly appeal to those districts who have not implemented prevention strategies and encourage them to do the right thing to protect the children under their care," she added. "We know these multi-layered mitigation strategies work, and thanks to the American Rescue Plan schools have the resources to implement these strategies."

Amid DeSantis' attacks on public health measures, Florida is now seeing more children hospitalized with Covid-19 than at any other point in the pandemic. The state currently has the fifth highest number of new infections per capita.

Walensky's warning also applied to school districts in Mississippi, Georgia, and Louisiana, where tens of thousands of children have had to quarantine in recent days following exposure or potential exposure to the virus.

The Children's Hospital Association on Thursday requested "immediate help" from the Biden administration as pediatric hospitalizations across the country reached 1,500.

If Florida is like Texas the higher court will reverse the lower court ruling and let DeSatan have his way.

Abbott and DeSatan are running neck and neck to having killed more people from COVID by their actions and to be known as the worst governors in the US.

Kid Rock cancels shows after 'over half' of his band catches COVID-19 in wake of Sturgis performance

According to The Independent, conservative singer-songwriter Kid Rock has canceled a planned performance at Billy Bob's Texas this weekend, because multiple members of his band have been infected with COVID-19 following a set at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

"I am pissed," he wrote on Twitter. "Over half the band has f**king covid (not me), and before u sh*t for brains bloggers and media trolls run your mouths, many of them, like me, have been vaccinated."

"The controversial US singer, whose real name is Robert Ritchie, was scheduled to perform at Billy Bob's on 27 and 28 August," reported Maanya Sachdeva. "This comes after Kid Rock played to a 'packed house' at the 10-day Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota on 8 August, which health officials are calling a 'superspreader event'."

The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally has led to a spike in cases of COVID-19 across the state of South Dakota, with over 3,800 new cases and seven deaths at the end of August.
https://www.rawstory.com/kid-rock-covid/

Even though the band caught COVID at least they will recover since having been vaccinated. I just wonder what percent of the attendees at the rally were also vaccinated? I would bet it was a smaller number than 50%.

What we are seeing now it Darwin's Law- Survival of the Fittest in action. It is not the strongest or the fastest or the meanest, but the smartest. The survivors are those that listen to the true experts and took the vaccines. Those that didn't are dying off. Unfortunately they are also taking many of the children and those that can't make the decisions with them.
