WASHINGTON (AP) — A man who claimed to have a bomb in a pickup truck near the Capitol surrendered to law enforcement after an hourslong standoff Thursday that prompted a massive police response and the evacuations of government buildings and businesses in the area.

Videos posted to his Facebook before the page was taken down appears to show Roseberry at the Nov. 14 rally attended by thousands of Trump supporters to protest what they claimed was a stolen election. One video appears to be filmed by Roseberry as he’s marching with a crowd of hundreds of people carrying American flags and Trump flags and shouting “stop the steal.”

Developing story, but made me wonder if we aren't headed into an era in USA similar to the actions in No. Ireland and Britain - due to the right wing Trumpistas fighting/bombing for their Führer !! Zeus, how turd ef'd up this world. !!!! Regardless of how this incident turns out.

It wouldn't surprise me Wino if the National Capitol didn't become for US extremists, what the World Trade Center was for Middle Eastern terrorists, the symbol of everything they hate.

I sincerely believe that many would love nothing more than to see this nation in internal turmoil similar to Beirut or Israel/Palestine debacles - and I mean from within our own citizens, which I fear more than any other terrorist. Around 1990 I took some classes from the State Department on terror organizations around the world. I learned that while everyone talked so much about the IRA, the various Ulster terror groups were often times even better organized and more effective than the IRA. But since they were pro-Brit, we didn't hear about their atrocities much over here. The Protestants are a vicious bunch still.

Northern Ireland is such a great example of how identity politics doesn't end well.

And yet, Ireland finally got it's independence... Ireland, home to tons of American Corporations (problematic for sure, but still) is going to finally see a huge amount of financial growth. The same pattern played out in South Korea and Vietnam (and likely Afghanistan after some serious turmoil occurs). As you stated, the royalists in Ireland engaged in tons of terrorism, but since they were on the "right" side, it's barely talked about. Just like the terrorism engaged in by Israeli settlers, y'all qaeda/the alt-right, and so forth.

I worked with an Irish Nurse from Belfast for years. A good catholic but had no use for the IRA or the Orange Ulster groups. Her uncle was a brigadier in the British Army. She had trained and worked in Belfast during the worse of the "troubles" said the hospital were neutral ground and nether side would do anything there. In the Wards she said there would be a British trooper in one bed and next to him an IRA member. Said they would talk and tell stories, have a jolly good time. As for the bombing of the pubs and other areas, everybody was forewarned where and when it would happen, so people just stayed away from that area.

She said when her uncle died, natrual causes, the British army sent in extra forces including helicopter gunship to insure the funeral would not be disrupted.

Last itme I talked to her she said the problems now was that Northern Ireland is pissed about the British pulling out of the EU and there was talk about joining Ireland to get back into the EU.

Economics is a good reason for them to come around. I can't imagine a world where Northern Ireland Protestants join a Catholic country, but weirder things have happened. I hope they do, that would be really cool.

There are Catholics in Northern Ireland and Protestants in Ireland. But anymore they are becoming Irish first.
