Speed Loader Holders

1
Never really gave speed loaders any thoughts till the new SP. I have a cowboy rig for my Blackhawk with lots of loops for ammo.
So I did grab a 5 Star Firearms speed loader and of course now I think I might need a belt pouch for it.
The question/s is do you use one or just put the speed loader in your pocket?
And what type of pouch do you use? There seems to be many options.

Think a pouch or holster would be better than carrying around in a pocket, if for no other reason than comfort. I had one once for my .357 but never carried so...

I do prefer wheel-guns to the spring fed type.
I ordered a case of optimism from Amazon, but porch pirates beat me to it. Still, chin-up.

It would be nice to look at some in hand but heck, there's hardly any at the biggest LGS here in town let alone holsters and grips. I was strolling through the options on Amazon and there were several types.

I have tried to make a several out of leather, and these are cheaper than I can make them. I’m wearing one with 2 speed loaders right now & it’s totally unnoticeable.

And a nice color selection too! I was thinking - do I really want to spend as much as it costs for a speedloader itself? Answer is no. I am a leather fanatic when it comes to accessories. I got a blingy speedloader and will prolly get another. This is the only one my LGS had on hand for .38/.357. http://www.5starfirearms.com/ProductDet ... JF35705000

Revolver Speed loaders are a whole different topic.

I mainly use HKS Because they work fine, keep loose rounds from getting lost, are inexpensive and I have muscle memory for them. If you want to spend $40 or so there a some fantastic loaders out there, that don’t rely on gravity to get Barry the rounds. I have a couple “jet loaders” which positively push the rounds into the cylinder, I like to have one of those for my first reload.

Reloading a revolver to any sort of speed takes a ton of practice so I recommend you get some dummy rounds.

Moon clips are by far the fastest reload for a wheel-gun, but require your gun to be modified. I competed revolver division in USPSA for awhile but I had a race tuned, magma ported, GP 100 cut for moon clips which are the fastest- they don’t carry very well tho, and easily bend.

A good video on reloading using Speed Loaders, and holsters for Speed Loaders:

I may carry a 5-shot speedloader, and if I do, I carry it in this sort of pouch:

When I don't want anything bulky on my belt, I carry a speed strip, and may have it in a flat pouch:

I have some speed strips … and they are anything but “speedy.” They are a better way to carry rounds than just merely loose in your pocket. So I’m ok with them for some applications. IMHO - they are totally Useless for any sort of “combat reload.” Speed loaders are far superior.
