Why did they say 'nevermind', you ask? Well, follow the link for fun with a gun. So, as far as concealability goes, how would you guys rate this one? I am torn.

That's gotta be a technical error. It's not an SBS since it never had a buttstock. It should be classified as an AOW and only require the $5 tax stamp, not the $200 tax stamp.
ATF colonoscopy still applies.

Apparently, Taurus had declared it to be a 'pistol' not an SBS or an AOW. I think that was the main issue.
Plus, its still ridiculous.

Ok, apparently its all a bunch of hyped up BS reported erroneously:
http://michaelbane.blogspot.com/2011/01 ... ducts.html
This just in from American Rifleman’s Mark Keefe:
With the vast array of new guns in the Taurus booth at the 2011 SHOT Show, it was easy to go into new-product overload. But the one gun that stood out most was the 28-gauge Raging Judge revolver. Whenever there is something truly new and different, there are bound to be juicy rumors, which included that the gun had been declared a National Firearms Act item by BATFE and “removed.”
This is simply not the case. Taurus President and CEO Bob Morrison invited officials from the ATF’s Technology Branch to discuss some of the firm’s new product introductions. “I asked them to come and give some advice,” Morrison said. By all accounts the meeting was cordial, professional, and not a “raid” or “gotcha” as erroneously reported elsewhere. No determination on the gun’s status was made at the show. Remember, to even be in the United States at all, the prototype had to be cleared by BATFE for importation. On the 28-gauge Raging Judge revolver, Taurus sought BATFE’s advice on some modifications to the gun and is the process of implementing the results of those suggestions. This is a very common practice; gun manufacturers and importers regularly work with BATFE as the firearm industry’s regulatory agency.
Also, despite rumors to the contrary, the .45 Colt/.410-bore lever-action Ranch Hand with the rifled barrel is good to go for importation, as is the 28-gauge Circuit Judge. You’ll see them later on this year, as well as the 28-gauge Raging Judge, with minor modifications.
Rumors also abound regarding an impending ATF ruling regarding shotguns and “sporting purposes,” but they have nothing to do with the 28-gauge Raging Judge.
Its still ridiculous

INteresting comment from someone:
My guess as to why it IS legal is this: It falls right in between being a > .50 cal DD and an SBS/AOW without meeting all of the requirements of either. The law about > .50 cal being a destructive device actually states any rifled bore greater than .50 cal ‘intended to fire single rounds’. The Judge 28 rifling is optimized for shot, and it won’t chamber anything other than 28 gauge shells. Likewise, the gun is designed to fire shot, and it definitely has a barrel shorter than 18″, but it has a rifled barrel and is clearly a pistol. It seems that Taurus has managed to make a gun that skirts both areas of the law, but falls outside of the letter, and obviously the spirit, of both as well.

Interesting. The only problem there is 28 gauge slugs, in a rifled bore, = AOW from my understanding...hmm...

I've never seen a 28 gauge of any type up close, but that pistol looks damn ridiculous. Naturally, I want one.

holy crap, yeah... I think they said never mind because they know people would get hurt trying to fire it, at least with the T-rex, and .950 jdj you have a stock to take the brunt of the force.... I still want one though...

Another solution looking for a problem. Joins the .500 S&W which in longer barrel lengths also needs a shoulder strap.

at least the .500 had a purpose in large game pistol hunting.

I know me too, but I'd prefer a short barreled .500, just because it'd be a fun gun to shoot.

Biggest I've shot so far is some heavily charged .44 magnums out of a Ruger Redhawk. I giggled like a schoolgirl the first time I shot it.
Man oh man there is just something awesome about a preposterously overpowered handgun.

.480 Ruger is one of the biggest I've fired, but I've fired a pistol grip only 12ga, though granted, there is a lot of weight there. I'm not sure if I'd want one, but I would love it if a buddy had one and let me shoot it.

I've never shot the 480 before and I think that Ruger really dropped the ball with that one, they should have chambered it in a five shot super blackhawk, I think it would have sold well. My 5 shot 45 Colt is all I need and the cylinder doesn't look like a beer can. I have loaded that up to pressures that rival the 454 Casull which would kill game that that I'll never hunt so it digests much more sensible loads that don't split the web between the thumb and trigger finger after 20 or 30 shots.

which brings a good point on the .500, if you aren't careful of hand placement, you can cut off digits with the gasses escaping from the cylinder, I can only imagine a 28 gauge revolver being MUCH worse.

That's ridiculous.
This is ridiculous too, but kind of an artwork, in a mechanical engineering sort of way:
