whether you believe in prayer or not, at least it's free. nobody's charging you 50 bones an hour to get down on your own knees in an attempt to make yourself feel better, and unless it's one of those evangelical churches that forbids its members from going to the doctor when they have cancer, prayer isn't going to get anybody killed.

About as scientific as going to a witch doctor - the witch doctor would probably be more fun. Reminds me of a wonderful book written many years ago but still applicable, "Persuasion and Healing" by Jerome Frank.
