I cringed at the idea of listening to his speech last night but I did. And I'm glad I did, that was an example of why people voted for him. I'm not always happy with the end results of his legislation but he is a great orator. I actually felt sorry for Rep. Ryan for having to follow that.

As for the seating arrangements, I thought it was a congressman that had come up with the idea of the mixed seating :hmmm:

Noooo! It was Obama's cunning plan to appear on TV as person that everybody agrees with. He's starting his election campaign two years early again! Didn't you know that by now???

Anyway, Ryan was definitely a better choice than last year's "Kenneth the Page".

People who watched the State of the Union Address liked it.

The article points out that this little bit is significant since the people who watched it do not represent the population at large. Democrats were more likely to watch than Republicans for instance.

I didn't sit down for it but my first thought that most people who did were probably fans to start with.

I heard it on the radio, so I missed whatever theatrical staging there was. From the parts I heard, it sounds like the best thing that could happen to give America a kick in the pants to stop arguing & whining over cultural nonsense that is both settled and of government's business in the first place, and instead get back to leading the progress of humanity, would be for the Chinese to land people on the moon or Mars. Anything short of that seems to escape our notice.

Nope. At least two self-described Tea Baggers did not. Scalia could address the TP Caucus behind closed doors, but could not find his way to the SUA. Clarence "Pube on a Coke can" Thomas, whose wife works for Dick(head) Army did not show either. They should be booted for their political connections. At the very least, they should have recused themselves from the Citizens United ruling.

Well, they can be impeached for their behavior and have the mantle of justice taken from their shoulders. Precedent is set with the impeachment of sam chase, whose footsteps scalia seems to be treading in to my uneducated eye, and thomas is walking a parallel path through the politics of his wife. The problem is the current judicial committee in the house being controlled by team corporation - err, team elephant - and team donkey being as stubbornly stationary as that mascot.
