Re: Conservative Bands?

I'd argue that the music of the Ramones transcends politics. They are a band that bridges theism, political bent, generations, and race. Blitzkreig Bop was the first "real" song I taught to my daughter, when she was 3 years old, and it was the first Ramones song shown to me by my uncle when I was 8. I see school kids today wearing Metallica or Megadeth or Public Enemy shirts, and I laugh at them. But the kids who wear the Ramones shirts... I salute.

Doesn't matter what their politics were. I don't have to agree with them to rock out to Sheena Is A Punk Rocker or The KKK Took My Baby Away.

Johnny was the right winger, Joey was the New York Liberal Jew who wrote "The KKK took my baby away" regarding Johnny moving in on his girl. Dee Dee was a dope fiend, but I don't know, maybe he voted Republican if they gave him a hit to do so.

Give Dee-Dee more credit than Wikipedia. He did most of the writing-especially the most "commercial songs", formerly lead the band, suggested the name and the persona, offered to have Joey (the drummer) sing instead. A better choice in my mind since Joey fuckin' rocked and Dee-Dee's voice shreds quickly on most recordings. Ironically Joey's voice eventually gave out after a ton of half shows (only some 2-3 songs) stopped after he just couldn't sing anymore.
Also, who didn't have an opiate problem in that circle/scene/time? Just look at who he performed with after the Ramones. Granted the depths of his addiction during the filming of "Rock and Roll High School" his only permitted lines...during the whole movie...was, "All right, pizza!"
Miss them all the same.
Here's a clip from The Joe Franklin Show (if you like bad B movies you'll love old Joe Franklin episodes) with Joey and Marky, I remember staying up for this when it was shown live. What best is Joe is so out of touch...the Ray-Mones. Got to meet them briefly at a teeny-tiny show in Queens the same year.

I've yet to look into the major bands I listen to other than the ones who are obvious.

Rage Against The Machine. Er...yeah, definitely not conservative.
Black Keys...can't really finds anything on 'em.
Blues Brothers. Well, one's dead...and Aykroyd looks to be a non-conservative.

I know when I found out Kid Rock was a right leaning a-hole, I stopped listening to the few songs I actually liked by him.

I don't agree with the file sharing = stealing. Let me find the article that explains the reasoning since I'm not as eloquent when it comes to politics and other areas outside theism and RKBA.

While I'm searching for that, watch this video.

There is an outrageous story of how he did it, that is being poo-pooed (I shuttered typing that) and made to look as though he was lying to some magazine for his own amusement. That's bullshit, I heard the story the first time in 1968, and believe me the Nuge was a draft resister and the story is true, I know folks that toked with him at the time.
Yeah, I remember a post on here some time ago talked about that and had this link:

Its worth a quick read.

Also, one of our own partied with Ted back in the day.

Nugent is a total douchenozzle and I never liked his music.

I have it on good authority that the Black Keys are pretty far left. The mother of one of my daughters friends is a free lance journalist and covers a lot of music events. Last year she interviewed them at the Wanee Festival.

Dan Aykroyd is a looney mooney lefty UFO conspiracy theory nutter, and that's ok.
