The article kind of glossed over it, but everything I've read about the Sullivan Act notes that it was popular mainly because it discriminated against Italians, the feared foreign horde of the day, and provided a useful tool for the Irish mob/political machine to use against both Italians thugs, who competed against them, and Italian shopkeepers, who had the annoying habit of pulling guns on the thugs who came around to collect protection money. As has been said, gun control is about people control.

I’ve seen a real pattern here. Seems like most every anti-gun law has its roots in some sort of racism. You would think that liberals would be against racism, and restrictions of liberties…Just goes to show, where politics is concerned, rarely does it all make sense.
