Dangerous enough to have federal agencies monitor us?

Just curious. My suspicion-o-meter went off recently for a certain unnamed but short lived member, but I haven't calibrated that thing since the run-up to Iraq =Þ

Just assume that Echelon sucks up everything you write on the internet anyway, and there's no reason to be wary of spooks or agents provocateurs. Besides, most of them have better social skills than the aforementioned sojourner.

Trolls are good for improving group cohesion.

I agree. All the information is probably screened for key words. There is no sense worrying about something that you cannot really do anything about. I always assume my words are being monitored (more narcissism than paranoia ). Seriously though, I tend to try not to say anything that I would not say directly to an opponent/friend/spouse's face and that strategy has worked okay for me.

Regarding the troll. I am fairly oblivious. Someone PM me who it is. Is it me?

I don't think she's a troll. I think she jumped the gun, told her life story and info about herself all at once thinking she found the right place and was surprised at the reaction leading to a melt down and a tantrum.
