You can have them. I REFUSE to be in an auto-pilot car that I have to pay for. If I'm buying an auto, it's because I ENJOY driving! I don't care if health and safety think it's too dangerous for me, I prefer it that way (with no at-fault accidents in my adult life).

If they want to fit this to all cars? Fine, I'll stick to my Vespa and whatever 2-wheeler for my commuter bike.

I'm sure yo can drive the car normally but when you're feeling a bit lazy or want to bullshit with some folks on the internet you can get on the train.

Just calm down and breath. :)

I prefer to be in control of the car when I'm drinking and er ah just driving.

What happens if the lead truck goes off the road?

Same as with a real train you call out the hook.

By 2020, automoblie accidents will join cancer and heart problems as the leading cause of death for Americans. I like to drive and actually clock 80 miles one way for work, but there was 33,000 deaths alone for 2009.

Taking the human factor out of driving can be nothing but a good thing. Robots don't talk on the phone and drive, or text and drive, or drink and drive, or succumb to road rage, or pass at the wrong time, or fall asleep at the wheel, etc.

Yeah, this. Ever *have* to drive somewhere and its 3am and you really wish you could stop and sleep so you will be more well rested the next day but you can't because you *have* to get there at a particular time? Well.... hope in the train and catch some ZZzzzzz.

I love driving too. And I am sure it would take a while to get comfortable with the idea of being out of control. But I think this could be handy.

But.... I do worry about that front truck :)

You could also use it if you were sitting in your car during a bad accident and spending an hour in a traffic jam. Take a nap and hook up to the train.

It's also assuming you don't use cruise control. I wish my car had it, but 500 bucks to install it keeps my foot on the pedals.
