Rand is kinda like performance art, kinda like dada with a "point". Personally, I like my dada absurd and pointless.

Really weird blog.. I accept a lot of anarchist beliefs and philosophy - she appears to be more to the right of libertarian side of things.

Libertarian socialism - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Libertarian_socialism

For those too lazy to click the link:

Libertarian socialism (sometimes called social anarchism,[1][2] and sometimes left libertarianism)[3][4] is a group of political philosophies that promote a non-hierarchical, non-bureaucratic, stateless society without private property in the means of production. Libertarian socialism is opposed to all coercive forms of social organization, and promotes free association in place of government and opposes the coercive social relations of capitalism, such as wage labor. The term libertarian socialism is used by some socialists to differentiate their philosophy from state socialism[5][6] or by some as a synonym for anarchism.[1][2][7]

Has there ever been any society in which this philosophy has succeeded and endured?

I don't believe so, unfortunately. It was somewhat successful in Spain during the Spanish civil war before it was destroyed by the fascists and communists. I'm pretty sure Homage to Catalonia talks about it some but it's been so long since I've read that book that I can't remember for sure.

I am not knocking the philosophy. I think that it would be great if people could associate freely without some sort of hierarchy. Perhaps I am cynical, but I just don't see it happening, especially on a large scale because there are always certain people who will try to accumulate resources and wield power.

This must not be the thread where she lost it, because she was having normal discussions and then basically said "Fuck this place." It doesn't appear she will be much of a loss, I could be wrong though.

I didn't really follow what went down with her but I think it is true that this site is very moderate politically.. I mean, no offense to anyone here but we have people saying they would gladly vote for Hillary Clinton for fucks sake. Don't get me wrong.. I truly appreciate this forum and most of the people here but if this is the "liberal" gun club then I apparently have gone off the deep end.

Typically you offer counterpoints when you debate, or you can use Socratic questioning. Her responses were typically to rant about how corrupt government is. While she may have a point and the site may have its moderates, I don't think it is fair to characterize the site as moderate based on one or two posters stating that Clinton would be a viable challenger to Obama. I myself said that Bernie Sanders would be much more preferable to either, although he would not be politically viable given the current political process.

Liberals are of all stripes just as there are many types of libertarians, conservatives, and other political, social, and economic philosophies.

Yeah, that is a pretty funny movie. It was a Coke bottle thrown out of an airplane.
