I didn't really follow what went down with her but I think it is true that this site is very moderate politically.. I mean, no offense to anyone here but we have people saying they would gladly vote for Hillary Clinton for fucks sake. Don't get me wrong.. I truly appreciate this forum and most of the people here but if this is the "liberal" gun club then I apparently have gone off the deep end.
Typically you offer counterpoints when you debate, or you can use Socratic questioning. Her responses were typically to rant about how corrupt government is. While she may have a point and the site may have its moderates, I don't think it is fair to characterize the site as moderate based on one or two posters stating that Clinton would be a viable challenger to Obama. I myself said that Bernie Sanders would be much more preferable to either, although he would not be politically viable given the current political process.

Liberals are of all stripes just as there are many types of libertarians, conservatives, and other political, social, and economic philosophies.

Bill Maher for Pres. There. But we know how it works. Choices are limited. I choose Obama or Clinton over any republican. How the hell did this get to page 10? She's been gone all day.

A hang out with a lot of left-wing people and that includes feminists. I made a interesting that offend the feminists until I told them were I worked; I said "It takes a special type of woman to work were I work; usually they are the kind that can grow a bigger mustache than me."

I think therein lies the problem with any Utopian ideal, they never account for the baser human tendencies like greed, hate, jealousy, etc.

So, I'm wondering how we can lure other folks in here for entertainment value. Perhaps we could have some internet feelers out there that would get google hits and direct people like the dear departed to the LGC website? We can start placing bets on how long the welcome thread gets before they realize that they are the butt of the joke.

It's just human nature taken to the extremes of nationalism, patriotism, anarchism and all of those other "isms" voiced by the winger wackos of both political spectrums. They espouse the ideal but have no problem mucking around in the dirt and mud and using the baser tactics of the opposition. Some people just run on emotions and never grow out of it. Growing up involves learning the fine art of playing well with others in the sandbox.

Libertarian socialism - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Libertarian_socialism

For those too lazy to click the link:

Libertarian socialism (sometimes called social anarchism,[1][2] and sometimes left libertarianism)[3][4] is a group of political philosophies that promote a non-hierarchical, non-bureaucratic, stateless society without private property in the means of production. Libertarian socialism is opposed to all coercive forms of social organization, and promotes free association in place of government and opposes the coercive social relations of capitalism, such as wage labor. The term libertarian socialism is used by some socialists to differentiate their philosophy from state socialism[5][6] or by some as a synonym for anarchism.[1][2][7]
Not the same: Libertarian-socialism is left wing. Anarchist-libertarian is right wing. It's also known as Anarcho-capitalism.

In all honesty, I didn't think she was going to last. Her language and/or form of speech were permeated by Randisms. Not that there is anything wrong in itself...but it foreshadowed strong philosophical differences.

Wow, it's like we were twins... there was a time when I found an abusive woman a big turn on, until she keyed my car!

Yeah, isn't there something sexy about the crazy eyes? She really reminded me of the character Marla Singer in the movie Fight Club because of that one line "I haven't been f--ked like that since grade school."

Same here. Self-proclaimed punk rocker who didn't really like punk music and preferred R.E.M. instead. She also called herself an anarchist and was very anti-establishment, but was very pro free market. She would spout her dislike of Corporate America, but had no problems working for them-eventually managing a firly large regional office or some shit. Not sure if she ever read Rand though.

My brother dated a nut case once who pulled his .38 on him after she grabbed it from his dresser drawer. Luckily, he had surmised she was losing her shit and had unloaded it and locked away all the ammo. Needless to say, they aren't together anymore.

Best gal I ever dated was woman slightly older than me who was a slightly left-of-centrist Democrat but also into guns; she even got her CHL while we were dating, and she liked the fact that I carried while we were on dates, made her feel safer. We had to break things off when I moved away from Houston to North Texas to take my previous librarian job with TWU. In hindsight, I wonder if I wouldn't have been happier sticking with AIG and sticking with her here in town. She was, like me, a divorcee, and a former AIG co-worker. Best girlfriend I ever had, first post-divorce relationship for me.
