Just an observation on taking things out of context: I think a bigger problem than a leftist taking Beck's comments out of context are right- wing extremists taking Beck's comments out of context. Remember, these guys aren't exactly working for NASA... I doubt they can tell the difference between political theater and a call to arms.

No, we have a libertarian on our forum. While I think that the use of terms like "Ombomber" are silly, let's not dismiss the discussion. She holds beliefs similar to other folks on the site who see government as corrupt on both sides of the isle.

Beck, Limbaghahaha, Palin, Hannity can say what ever they want with no re-percussion and or consiquence. Dangerous when so many Americans believe the first thing or the loudest thing they here. I'm certainly no expert on politics, but Beck doesn't fool me from the start. You can look in his eye and see his intent. I would bet what ever alien is watching, he's keeping a close eye on this one.

Yes she seems educated, but without government we'd have no infinstructure. It's hard to be satisfied with a government with so much corruption from all sides, but after Bush, I think were on a better track. I like Obama and the Clinton's even if they're not perfect. I hate that they are controlled by the bullshit. One thing- I wish Obama would just say fuck it and bring the troops home. That's another thread. Yes. I have strong sympathies with the libertarians, but I'm not what you'd call an AnCap. I'm a Progressive. Just like John T. Flynn, not Woodrow Wilson. Because I think centralism is the enemy of liberty and justice.

So, Beck is not a dope when it comes to figuring out what gets his bank account fat and he doesn't care if what he says or does as long as that is filling that account with cash.
Oh, believe me, I am not forgetting it at all. These guys (and Michael Savage) are not thinkers, they're entertainers and shills. Not that I have anything against a radio host or anyone else making mad loot. But these guys are doing it through vile pandering, and that's pretty pathetic. Of course, I'm all for letting them say anything they want.
Many of the folks here on LGC forum might remember some of my rants about a year ago regarding the rhetoric coming from the right and comparing it to the shit we had in former Yugoslavia, prior to it's breakdown. For the most part, what right wing politicians and media is using in their rhetoric is word-for-word same absolute shit that was shoveled, mostly by Serbs (Croatians were not much better at it either, they just started it later). So, in my opinion one of the great dangers we have is the abuse of the 1st Amendment. I'm OK with them saying anything they want, I'm not OK that they are not suffering any consequences and they also making tons of money from all that crap.

My "High Ground" is basically what is enabling me to sleep at night, knowing that I fought for what was right.

On some issues, I have some libertarians tendencies, but I'm too old and seen too much to be naive and think that human race can get to that point within this century, let alone decade. I often say if there was an outbreak of smallpox in the USA, as it happened in Yugoslavia in 1972 - no matter who's in White House (D or R), this nation will be decimated. By the time they will figure out if it is constitutional and is it a matter of federal government or states, we will be all fucked a big time. And if the government was run by libertarians (an oxymoron), I'm afraid US population number will drop down to level of Canada. In Yugoslavia, there was no fuckin' around. Marshal law was declared and Tito and League of Communists of Yugoslavia ordered entire nation to be immediately vaccinated and all those exposed to the virus quarantined. The whole thing was contained within two months. 18 million people were vaccinated, 175 exposed to virus, 35 died from it.

If it was not handled like that the outbreak could have spread through Europe and we will be talking about much larger casualties.

What I'm trying to say here is we need smaller government, but also far more efficient and engaged. From what I'm seeing now, neither Tea Party, nor Republicans or Democrats have those traits nor they are interested in heading in that direction. We need here true multi-party systems giving proportional amounts of seats in government to the % of votes obtained in the elections, as well as getting rid of electoral votes (that is a thing of the past that in today's day of modern communications is totally bogus, borderline counterproductive) if we were to start moving in right direction.

End rant! Open beer!

Are you serious? Obama- mass murder? You'd rather have McCain and Palin? Come on... Obama inherited a nightmare. You know it, I know it. Give the guy some credit. McCain would have by now set up camp in every other country in existance and maybe the fuckin moon. Then he would die two weeks later and that other :albert: would be in charge and handling world afairs. Africa's a country! You make many points that I agree with but that one aint one of them. I want a smaller government, but not just in terms of not taking up 40% of the GDP and running massive regulatory agencies for the fun of it. In the sense of Federalizing the states and flushing the current FedGov down the drain. I believe in face-to-face communalism. Aristotle had it right; a large polis always degenerates into tyranny. A small Polis is dynamic and reflects the needs and interests of the people involved. A big centralized state is nothing but a crime racket writ large.
You'd rather have McCain and Palin?
Goofy false dichotemy. I'd rather have neither. Of either, I probably prefer Obama because he's not going to lose his shit like that Senile old man McCain and go to war with Iran and/or China. But that doesn't make him not guilty of what he has done/has failed to do. A person who kills two people is a murderer. A person who kills twenty is also a murderer. Maybe the guy who 'only' killed two people is 'better'. Still a murderer.

I have a palm pre. Love it. You have preware installed and access to all the homebrew, right?

Just wait a bit, lets see what HP reveals on the 9th. If they don't have anything to impress, then I don't blame you. Although, after using the pre and then trying both Androids and iphones, I would take my aging original pre over either of those. Haven't used the Windows 7 smartphone yet though.

Lol. And I thought liberals were suppose to be anti-monopoly. Yet you're willing to grant the most tyrannical and quite possibly evil simpliciter power - legal jurisdiction and the use of force - to some suit you know nothing about and have zero control over in DC. Some suit who's in a rotating-door arrangement with big business. Excuse me. I am a bit more skeptical.
