Not very much. They tried to buy quite a bit more but some folk didn't sell. SpaceX owns about 40 acres and leases about another 60 acres. The launch site though borders a public highway that has to be closed to traffic during testing or launches. They also ask the remaining residents of Boca Chica to evacuate when a launch is planned.

Another RUD
But a RUD within a well defined specific location. Very neat.

The two space ships SN9 and SN10 were on launch stands within the apparent tip over range of each other and the landing zone only a few hundred feet from the launch zone. So they did a launch and complete RUD while the next attempt was standing upright between the two events.

That actually sounds rather shitty. I wouldn’t like to evacuate or have my house destroyed by a private company with no benefit. Typical. Thanks for the response sig.

It's considerably different than a NASA launch. There are seldom precise dates and often a launch has been scheduled but then scrubbed. Closing the highway and the evacuation orders though go into effect regardless of the actual outcome. But I must admit they seem to have really gotten the precision of the RUD events down so safety has been exceptional.

To put the sizes in perspective, NASA bought over 130 square miles of property for the Canaveral/Merritt Island facility and I believe it's well over 200 square miles currently.
